The MMA Thread: DON'T ASK 4 STREAMS & NO GIFS- Cannonier, Imavov, Reyes, Rosas on NOW

The first round had some good striking exchanges towards the end. I'm guessing it's all downhill from there.

Of course with the Silva news today UFC has to come out with some big news. So...

Weidman vs Rockhold at UFC 194 Dec 12.
 Nice!!

Man I kind of want to go to the fight now but I bet tickets are going to be a lot

I wonder if Weidman is deciding to make a jump to LH in the because of the IV ban coming up in a few months. Dude cuts mad weight to make 185. He shouldn't be overlooking Rockhold though, that guy is a monster.

he's been a wrestler his whole life so i think cutting weight shouldn't an issue for him at this point. plus i think he should try to break anderson's defense record and keep dominating his division

Weidman is pretty big for 185 so that probably plays a part, he might be getting tired of the cut.

I don't know if he does as well at 205 as he did at 185 tho. Even with the division being what it is, part of what makes Weidman so tough at 185 is his size.

Rockhold is another oversized middleweight tho, that fight should tell a little something about how Weidman might do at light heavyweight.

He's not moving up anytime soon. He took over the Mets twitter account and someone asked if he was gonna move up to 205 lbs and he said yeah in a couple more years.

Never understood why the champ would change weight class. I doubt anyone wants to let go of their title so they can go back to being a contender. Sounds like hustling backwards to me. Only way i'd see someone doing that is if they lost their title like Frankie Edgar for example he didn't really have a choice.

Hustling backwards to win another title in a diff weight class?? And to solidify ur self as one of the best. Only 3 guys have ever done it I believe

BJ tried it at ufc 94 but he kept his LW title and in that stretch at lw hw solidified himself as the best LW of all time...

I understand this but BJ didn't have to vacate his title when he fought GSP. Besides he had already been WW champ before and fought GSP so it's not like he was just jumping into something new. Having 2 titles at once would be :hat. When there was talk about Aldo moving up to fight Pettis it was said he would have to vacate the title. I'm sure the same would apply to Weidman or any of the other current champs. Having to vacate the title in order to test waters in a new weight class and possibly getting washed in the process is what seems like hustling backwards to me. Since that BJ fight i've heard fighters talk about it but no one actually does it. Would be dope if someone does it and is able to succeed, I just don't really see it happening anytime soon.

Would like to see Souza get the W, I like his matchup with either Weidman or rematch Rockhold more than seeing Romero
