People saying McGregor has a shot and can take it in a rematch must have watched a different fight from me. I rewatched it last night and the dude babied and dominated McGregor nearly the whole way through. Fought him to not just defeat him, but also disrespect and punish him.

I saw the same thing. But we know it's all about the money. The UFC is going to point out that McGregor was out of the octagon for two years, this time he will be better prepared blah blah blah. We get another super fight.
 
You can't blanket statement that many ppl, Conor probably is the biggest combat sports athlete in the world now even over Canelo and AJ in boxing

i’m not even bringing up him throwing water bottles and jeopardizing the audience when he could have just walked off stage, or punching nate’s hand in the face off or doing the same to khabib on their face off. c’mon man some of you guys gotta be in love with conor or really hate muslims.

Still not counting out Conor, he has the skill set to compete with Khabib. It's a matter of better game planning and execution. Khabib right now seems unbeatable but we've said this about many others before him
 
Not a ufc follower but even I can see that Khabib dominated McGregor. It was like LeBron playing against a high school team. He stood up to the best striker and humiliated him. Amazing fight and whenever he fights next, he will sell out like there’s no tomorrow. Ufc low key happy

HW is in shambles. Can’t believe Black Beast is close to a HW title shot. That Hail Mary approach can only go so far. He really needs to figure out his back issues and work on his cardio. If it’s DC/Lesnar then I’d assume Stipe could possibly be his next opponent. Stipe would probably beat him standing or on the ground.

Watterson/Herring. I know rankings don’t matter. But here I was thinking they were ranked high. They’re not close to sniffing the title.

Sort of want Pettis/Ferguson to run it back. I enjoyed the fight especially when they had disregard for their safety. Fergie did a show time punch lol.

OSP looked bad.

Conor/Khabib. I sort of feel like Herb could’ve called the fight in the second round. Maybe Conor was remaining calm and not trying to expend too much energy. Conor definitely worked on his TDD. If he’s really about it, work on his TDD/grappling and challenge Lee. I want Ferguson/Khabib.
 
It would be blatantly disrespectful if the UFC sells Khabibs next fight by painting him like some off the rails savage. If he fights tony or GSP there will be mutual respect at the end of the fight.
 
They definitely should go the GSP/Khabib route. GOAT title.

The most dominant. And GSP is a respectful martial artist. So it would be reverent and about the competition. GSP has better stand up.

Khabib might have the better grind and GnP.
 
It’s silly how he thinks there’s not enough fighters to make 165 work but he made a 145 woman’s division that currently has one fighter. Like all you need to be is a woman and able to make 145 and you can probably get a title shot.
 
i wouldnt be mad at 165, but khabib needs to defend 155 unless he retires and it would just feel like its champ is some dude who cant win at 155 or 170 :frown:
 
I think ufc will paint khabib as the bad guy and pin him against the “good guy” gsp..
 
Khabib just put on an absolute clinic. Pure dominance. He was literally toying with Conor. He could have ended it in the second round. But nope, he was meticulously tiring Conor out and just slowed his strikes to Conor just so that the ref wouldn't stop the fight.

Also, instead of a choke, he freaking neck cranks to Conor, as if he was wanted to end his life. Free murder right there.

But hey, good for Conor for not pressing charges to Khabib's camp. He went in the kitchen and took the heat.
 
I mean they put Connor throwing the dolly into the bus in the promo. And y’all crying about khabib acting a fool?

Leave it to Connor to get jumped inside the octagon.

On the topic of the gap between strikers and grapplers, there is still so much untapped potential in bringing high level skill that is currently exclusive to BJJ/Boxing/Kickboxing into MMA. It will just take time to adapt and fit it all into the MMA ruleset.

Its awesome to see the skill difference when one of the UFC's best and most dynamic strikers in TJ struggles to land a clean shot vs Loma, and we all saw what mayweather did to conor



On the other side of things, you have a high level wrestler and dominant MMA fighter in Ben Askren getting tapped out every 30 seconds vs a guy like Marcelo Garcia



Bellator has done a great job in signing young, up and coming specialists and if they keep up their development they will be able to give the UFC a run for their money in a few years.
