The NBA Draft Thread

Ainge isn't going to give up much more than that pick. Sixers are the ones with 3 centers on their team. This is their way out...

Yall do got alot of PGs too tho. Im sure he wouldnt mind throwing Rozier in there if we asked for him too

my current favorite thing to read " blue chip prospect A doesn't fit with 20 win team B's roster" .

I think there's a difference when this is said in regards to the Sixers. Ben Simmons is a stretch 4....Dario Saric is a really good player in his own right and is also a stretch 4. Then we also have Embiid, Okafor and Noel. The rest of the roster is trash but Simmons plays exactly how one of our blue chip prospects does. Ingram-Okafor-Embiid with Saric as our 6th man sounds great to me. If we draft Simmons then either him or Saric is going to have to want to play the 3 and be more of an outside threat.

Maybe Simmons can eventually be a full time pg kind of like Greek Freak this year?

I can see it happening.

If we do pickup Simmons, it's safe to assume that the roster will change to cater to his game. But as of today you will have:

Simmons / Ish
Stauskas/ Canaan (two shooters but we will need to trade/ sign/ draft better wing shooters)
Covington (very good shooter)
Saric/ grant
Noel/ Jah/ Embiid (one or two need to go)

That looks awful. It's more like Saric-Simmons-Embiid with Noel off the bench and Okafor traded or Ingram-Okafor-Embiid with Saric off the bench. Our starting PG and SG are not on this team right now.

But that's my point. We can't say that Simmons doesn't fit in with the team since the roster will most likely look completely different by the start of the season. We are in a position to build around Simmons to reach his potential with his current skill set.

Not even close? Ok

Anyway, Odom is a much more fair projection. I could see Simmons at point guard though down the road, if it was a goal of the coaching staff

I feel like ppl compare what Giannis is now in his 3rd/4th season to Ben who hasn't even played a game yet :lol :{

Coming into the league their not even on the same level as rookies as far as production / skills/expectations

Ben doesn't have the length and range of Greek Freak (Ingram actually fits more of that profile), but he's a freak athlete in guys own right. Dude really looks like a mini Lebron, people just bounce off of him.

Did you consider the other side of the ball?

Between Simmons and Stauskas, which one is guarding the other teams point guard?

He's forward that can potentially run a team's offense. Not a full time designated point guard.
Ben Simmons is a stretch 4....

Chad Ford Workout News

(fyi I can't post insider articles so I will summarize things that might be important)

Brandon Ingram.

- Hes put on 7 pounds, he;s up to 197 now.
- He's working on proving he's an elite shooter. (teams question if he's a 40% shooter)
- Already looks really comfortable from NBA 3 point range, more advanced than other prospects.
- some NBA scout thinks he's a shooting gaurd (dumb imo)
- some teams think he's paul george. (also dumb imo)

Jamal Murray

- Deadeye shooter, looked better than ingram shooting, rarely missed.
- was really accurate even 5 feet beyond 3 point line. (steph curry range? 8o )
- went 25-for-27 from in "exhausting" 2 minute 3 point drill.
- 6-foot-5 with a 6-foot-7 winspan
- NBA scouts compare him to Brandon Roy or CJ Mccolum. (nah on the former, maybe on the latter imo)

Thon Maker

- did great in the interviews (he's so well spoken! :lol)
- upped his weight to 218
- High motor, hard worker
- Solid jumper

Hit the spoiler for, Baldwin, Jackson, Bolomboy, Ellis and Wiltjer. He also talked about Marshall Plumlee but I'm just going to ignore that. :lol

Wade Baldwin

- He thinks he's Russel Westbrook (Chad Ford doesn't buy it, says he tested better than Westbrook, but westbrook better in game athlete )
- Coaches at vaderbilt **** on his leadership, people think he will be tough to coach

Demetrius Jackson

- he's a really nice guy who is loved by most his teamates
- 43 inch vert

Joel Bolomboy

- shot the ball surprisingly well
- form doesn't look good but went in a lot.

Perry Ellis

- slowly extedning range to NBA 3 point line, he's coming along but work in progress.

Kyle Wiltjer

- best shooter on the court that day
- still slow
