THE OFFICIAL 2024 - 2025 DALLAS COWBOYS SEASON THREAD || 3-5 Next Game 11/10 vs. Eagles

They should lose now but they may just upset the eagles because of this. We still have that defense so I don't see them getting to far

I'll take Romo at 60%....

We have a top 5 receiver and a running game that is absolutely shredding right now ... In addition, we have a QBs best friend in Witten at TE ... I honestly believe Kyle Orton is better than Jay Cutler or Stafford ... The offense will be fine but the defense will get abused ...

A damn shame if this save Garrett's job ...

This is starting to make more and more sense.

Romo's elusive ability was severely lacking this year. He didn't seem as quick evading pressure, and he would go down the first sight of a defender.

Reports are that this back issue has been nagging him since training camp.

Also reports that the NFL is investigating the lack of putting this on the injury report as he allegedly tweaked it again in practice this week.

One can have hope that we can get rid of him :lol

Listen 2013 has been awful for me sports related... 2014 my luck shall change..

There are many bigger concerns than just this upcoming Sunday.

As a defender of Romo, I am also realistic. We just gave him a huge contract at age 33 and he is having back problems. There isn't any other word to use besides "TROUBLE."

I hate to say this but his replacement MUST be drafted next year with a 1st round pick. Doesn't matter what we need. 33 and back problems is the worst thing that can happen at a time when we just gave him a huge extension.

So now you would have 2 QB's on your roster collecting a chunk of salary cap and your defense is still horrible. :lol Not sure that's going to work when Dallas' defense is still abysmal. >D

While today's news wasn't so great, this game is not really going to come down to how our offense does as much as it will if our defense can muster up two-three stops. :x

It's sad, I know, but at the end of the day the Eagles defense sucks as does ours... whether it's Romo/Orton/Jason Garrett at QB it'll really come down to if this defense that Monte Kiffin provides us with is straight food early and often or if they'll get a turnover or two and stop the Eagles when Chip thinks he's still at Oregon going for it on 4th an 2 at our 43 yard line.

Throw the kitchen sink at McCoy, try to hold him down running AND receiving the ball along with Foles scampering for extra yardage. Make them somewhat one dimensional and the old Foles might return.

Sounds good but I dont see it happening. I been supportive since becoming a Cowboys fan before the superbowl's but can ya'll really see this defense slowing the Eagles down? This second half of the season they've looked like the worst defense in the league, no pass rush and lack luster LB play against run and pass.

Better than JJ hoping he can strike gold on another undrafted FA. Alex Tanney, Stephen Mcgee, and Matt Moore didn't work. JJ doesn't have an eye for talent which is why the only picks that have a high percentage of turning out good are in the first round. And even those he can;'t get right.

wonderful |I

i had a feeling romo's back injury would play a role in this weeks game, but i didn't think it would be to this extent :\

trying to stay optimistic, we still have all our weapons on offense... the biggest concern i had going into this game was our defense anyway.

this will be the excuse for the coaching staff to stay on though if we lose :lol

Oh you're actually serious? If they are going to continue to mismanage the salary cap like that, it doesn't matter who the coach is, they will be losers. They can have Vince Lombardi coaching, but with these scrubs on defense, they can forget about winning anything.

Why not go for the W? A loss doesn't do that much for our draft order. What, 2-3 spots higher in the middle of the rounds, late teens or early 20's?? I understand falsely inflating Jerry's ego but still......*cue Herman Edwards "You play to win the games" gif*

That's why it doesn't make sense to draft a QB that high in the draft when Romo was already "gifted" a good portion of Dallas' salary cap..

There's talent to be had in other rounds of the draft if a young promising QB is a primary concern. It would make more sense for Jerry Jones to take a 1st round QB if he hadn't bet the house and land on Tony Romo's aging ***...

They oughta draft defense all across the board, and figure out a way to get a serviceable back up QB for Romo if he's not able to go next year. They certainly can win without taking the risk of a first round QB that isn't guaranteed to pan out anyway...:lol

Agreed. This team is really a few quality defensive lineman away from doing some work in the playoffs. That's if Sean Lee can ever stay healthy, they may need to draft his replacement.

We'll agree to disagree I guess.

I remember those days of Chad Hutchinson, Drew Henson, Quincy Carter, Vinny Testaverde, Ryan Leaf, Drew Bledsoe, and Clint Stoerner vividly and if we wait like we did after Aikman, then we're in for a repeat of the aforementioned cycle for another 6 years...

This team has too many holes defense to spend a 1st on a QB that won't start. A 1st is for players that should be starting and making an impact right away.

Maybe a 3rd or 4th rounder though.

David Carr, Tyler Thigpen, and John Skelton are getting tryouts tomorrow.

:lol

First and last post I'll be making in this thread.

Jones: Garrett NOT coaching for his job

With the Dallas Cowboys playing for a playoff berth on Sunday in their game against the Philadelphia Eagles at AT&T Stadium, owner/general manager Jerry Jones left no doubt about coach Jason Garrett's job status.

Jones said Garrett isn't coaching for his job and any reports saying otherwise are inaccurate.

"That's not right, that's just not correct," Jones said on his radio show on 105.3 FM The Fan Dallas-Fort Worth on Tuesday morning. "I've addressed that three to four weeks ago and he is not and that's all you need to say about it.

"I have said the last couple of games I don't want to talk about it because it looks like, because someone else needs an answer, it is a point of consideration and I've said it earlier. I did it purposely several weeks back that certainly in terms of looking at the future. His future is bright in my eyes with the Cowboys."

Garrett enters the Eagles game with a 24-23 overall record in three NFL seasons. He's yet to reach the postseason, losing games in the regular season finales in 2011 and 2012.

Jones, however, likes Garrett's abilities to manage a team, especially with how he's handled the numerous injuries. The Cowboys, according to a source, will be without quarterback Tony Romo due to a herniated disk, although the team refuses to rule him out for the game.

Garrett has been criticized for a lack of consistency in his game-management skills and for an inability to push his team to a division title or wild-card berth. But Sunday, a victory would give the Cowboys their first NFC East title since 2009.

"You don't have anybody that doesn't have flaws," Jones said. "Once you accept that, and there could be several flaws but the positives if you go forward, the positives outweigh those."

Well one could hope it truly means "He isn't because he already has lost it." :lol

But that's not what he means :{
