THE OFFICIAL 2024 - 2025 DALLAS COWBOYS SEASON THREAD || 3-6 Next Game 11/18 vs. Texans Monday Night Football

I'm fine with Ware being released. Dude just wasn't worth what he was making. And honestly this shows a change in the mentality of the front office. No way they make this move two years ago. And at this point I wouldn't want them to sign Hatcher or Spencer even for cheap. If I'm not mistaken, the oldest player on defense right now is Lee at 27. And the only guys that will be over 28 by the end of the season is Romo Witten, Free and Bearnurdu. Stay young. Develop new leaders.

Losing Ware by no means makes the team better right now, but it's an encouraging sign.

If Ware gets picked up by Denver, better chance of winning no doubt, but I don't think his body can really handle/play in cold weather. He's strictly a dome field baby. IMO.

But liking our Defense striving to get younger.

i understand the move & pretty much saw it coming. still, really hate to see ware go :\ |I

I can't even look at our DL right now, yikes

and the sad part is, you can't fix this in one offseason, at this rate I would load up on offense add another WR get Chris Johnson and just try to outscore teams, dead serious

Because that has ever worked for anyone?

We need to fix the defense. That needs to be the sole focus of the offseason. Fixed in one year? No. But what part of pushing it back another year makes any sense?

Right, this ain't college and our coaching staff is too conservative to try and out score anybody.

Worked for the greatest show in turf

Just sayin...

I agree, signing a bum and a guy with a bad work ethic is not getting us anywhere

Marinelli did pretty good with what he had, considering he was bringing in guys off the street. I'll put my trust in him this season.

In all honesty, my main concern is for Romo's back and this paranoia won't be shaken until week 1 :|

He's not what he use to be but damn we couldn't give up a 5th rd pick for Sporles??? Dunbar can't stay healthy so having Sporles as an alternative pass catching back would've been a good look IMO. That was a steal for the SHEAGLES!

I'm all for loading up the offense which is why I'm not opposed to drafting a WR early. I believe in Rod on D but that picking guys up off the street **** eventually catches up by week 12. It's going to take a while to patch up this defense.

we should've made that move for Sproles he's really good in his role

he will destroy us

On the offensive side.

QB: Romo, Orton
RB: Murray, Dunbar, Randle
WR: Dez, Williams, Harris, Beasley
TE: Witten, Hanna, Escobar

For the skill positions, I like the potential, much of it can be realized. Assuming health of Romo & Murray. Balance the offense more, and I have no doubt a healthy Murray puts up at least 1,400 yards. Dez will be a premier wide receiver, Witten the best TE target in the league. If Williams or Harris can step up and be a great 2nd option. And Beasley turns into a Wes Welker lite on under routes, our offense should be good to go.

One thing that concerns me, is we almost always run single back formations. Murray is a powerful running back, but some extra protection on more running plays will definitely make him more of a threat. Would allow us to power it through more often, and get an extra blocker to break big gains. We don't always need shotgun formations or 2 TE sets. I think we need a solid FB who can run block. Yes, on list of priorities that's really low, but it is definitely something useful.

Tyron, Frederick & Doug Free gives us a solid line. Bernadeau is back, so we have almost the entire line in tact, and we were top 5 best lines last year.

I think we can get into the top 10 best offenses.

Sidenote: Also is there a point to carry Hanna anymore?

On defensive side: I would look more deeply but, it will make me cry. The front 7 with certain exceptions (Sean Lee, Selvie on a rotational basis) is a mess. Also Safety is a problem to me, Wilcox will develop, but I think we need someone better than Church (even if that move is unlikely)

^^ Hanna can block better than Escobar can...

Either or, I have no preference.

It just seems idiotic to carry a third TE.

One of Hanna or Escobar has to go, and use it to do something with the defense.

If I'm getting rid of one it's Witten most expensive, oldest bit still the best of the three. If I could get a third for him I take it. That being said most teams keep three why wouldn't we?

"@fishsports: .@DeMarcusWare was upset abt Jerry public $ comment. Jones apology accepted, Ware so touched turned down visits to #cowboys NFC East rivals"

Ware will always be that dude.

Will be rooting for DeMarcus in Denver.

Knowing how things have gone for the Cowboys the last few years, I fully expect him to put up 15 - 20 sacks this season and be in the running for DPOY.
