THE OFFICIAL 2024 - 2025 DALLAS COWBOYS SEASON THREAD || 3-6 Next Game 11/18 vs. Texans Monday Night Football

How would you guys REALLY feel if we picked Bosa with the 4th? From my understanding, hevis getting knocked for being he most pro ready out of anyone else in the draft not named Ezekiel

Im not high on Bosa. My 1a and 1b are Ramsey and Myles Jack, barring his knee checks out at the rechecks.

If we go with Zeke at 4 i want the team to be convinced that he can be Gurley/AP type of special, if not i cant justify drafting him at 4.

Gift and the curse of drafting at 4 is that you dont want to be drafting this high often so you need to hit on your pick.

Sounds like a fair trade... Until you realize that Mo Wilkerson is a Free Agent after next year.

So you sold # 4 for # 20. Just on a possible 1 year rental for Mo Wilkerson.... He's going to get paid.

#20 & Wilkerson for # 4. I say no very quickly.

#20 (1st)
#51 (2nd)
Mo Wilkerson

for

#4 (1st)
#101 (4th)

The draft value picks are 1240pts coming in. 1896pts going out.

And Mo Wilkerson would be valued at 654pts on the draft chart, that's the equivalent of a 28 pick basically.

Wilkerson loses tremendous value because 1. He's a FA after the season. 2. Jets really want to be able to get their Franchise QB. We could help them get that.

Anything less than a 1st, 2nd & Mo Wilkerson for our 1st & 4th... No thanks.

We had 5 holes on Defense going into Free Agency (just starters).

DE
DT
MIKE
DB
S

We've only filled 1 of them by Re-signing Rolando McClain.

And Cedric Thornton is a really good 3rd DT, but a meh 2nd DT from the 1 Technique that is supposed to help T. Crawford.

We did the right thing keeping Hanna, McClain, Wilber, Claiborne..

But can't see how Free Agency could have been any more of a disaster over the 1st Week when needing to address how to improve our team.

How much better than Nick Hayden is cedric thornton that's the question followed by can t. McClain make it part of a season healthy if so the interior of our d line is substantially better Imo. Wouldn't mind hardy back with a deal like last year where he gets paid per game(waaaayyyyy less per game tho) and they lose nothing if they cut him

Carr will be on this team for probably the full rate if they were cutting him they would have last year scan and mo on the outside then scan kicks inside on nickel lot of money for a nickel player but they made the deal

I'd like to see church play the strong if no other veteran safety is acquired and they feel Ramsey is a CB

thats a great tradition to have.. been my excuse to travel since 2010 lol.

so far i have been to candlestick, qualcomm, at&t stadium, metlife, soldier field and the Superdome.

this year plan to knock out levi, and heinz field.

I've done the same since 07 I've been to Dallas a few times Jacksonville, Miami, NY, Atlanta, Seattle and DC

Let me know your plans for Levi I live here and can point you in the right direction

Think Byron Jones should be the Strong Safety. Believe he easily is better than Wilcox there. Just for how well he defends TEs. And he's athletic enough to get to, cover, and stop under routes.

Ramsey by all accounts is not going to be a DB, he'll be lining up as a Safety. Most likely from the Free Spot. But will have the same type of versatility that Byron has.

Yes he's better than JJ no mater where he plays, but Wilcox played free and I would like church to go back to strong if they don't bring in a vet

It has already been said they view Ramsey as a CB so at least for year 1 I see him playing as Byron did last year then moving to safety full time Ala Byron

And I suppose it really doesn't matter what the safeties title is in a cover two

They moved Byron all over the place last season.. He started at DB. Then they realized he was better at Safety. Much Much better. Only moved back to DB because of everybody getting injured.

Stephen Jones has said Byron will be a Safety next season. Byron was also ranked the 22nd Best Safety by PFF. That's with being a rookie, and that not being his natural position.

I guess the Safety title doesn't matter. But 9 times out of 10, I'd have Byron drop down, cover the TE, or cover the short routes. Not the greatest tackler, but he's athletic enough to get anywhere quickly.

Here nor there... Here's how I I see the team:

If you were to ask me.... We absolutely need 4 starters, and 1 backup.

DE - Gregory out 4 games, and we have very little depth as is at DE. Greg Hardy had to continue being dumb, so he's no longer a viable option.
S - Win now mode, so this is more important than the next. Church was 66th, Wilcox was 78th among 87 safeties. So we really need an upgrade here at Safety. If Wilcox or Church & Heath are our backups... Fine, but don't think they can start anymore.
QB (Backup) - Take a high upside guy, who needs a couple seasons.
DB - Need another Outside Cover Corner. Scandrick - # 1. Carr & Claiborne # 3 & # 4 DB is great.. Carr at # 2 worries me. Could have crossed DB off if Patrick Robinson signed, but he change agents and swindled us. Or at the very least signed Robinson, cut Carr, and go after a DB with less urgency.
DT - There's more depth here with Thornton, Terrell McClain, Jack Crawford.... Wouldn't discount Hayden coming back as well. Wish they would have gotten Akiem Hicks or Nick Fairley on top of Thornton, but they needlessly wanted to save more money, even though both guys signed friendly deals. Could have crossed it off the list completely, but still feel we need another DT.

Not really needed right now, but you could draft them somewhere
RB
LB
OL
WR

Round 1 - Jalen Ramsey, Joey Bosa

You would really HOPE Philly does not pick Elliot, but they likely will. Because I'd be interested in trading with Tampa Bay. Leary, # 4 for # 9, #41. Creates a 1800-1860 draft value imbalance, but values Leary at pick #117 (4th), which would drastically tip the trade in their favor because Leary is a Starting LG on most teams.

Also imagine if Titans pass on Tunsil for say Jalen Ramsey... TB could get Tunsil at # 4 (They had #62 & #70 OTs out of 76) and Leary. TB was good at Center. That would be a HUGE boost for their team, and Jameis who looked pretty good.

But with Elliot gone at 8, it hurts the idea of a trade. Unless they really like Vernon Hargreaves at # 9.

Another idea.... Would any of you make one of these 2 trade
1. # 4 & #101 (4th) for # 2
2. #4 & Ron Leary for # 2

Has a huge imbalance that favors us, but...

Titans are not taking a QB
We won't take a QB in Round 1.
Chargers are not taking a QB.

So Browns move back 2 spots, get the same guy they were going to get anyway, and get a 4th Rounder or Ron Leary for their New QB.

We draft Jalen Ramsey before the Chargers, and fill a hole at either DB or Safety

I say a trade for Mo wilk would make better sense if they could agree on a contract extension BEFORE the trade is done.  a line of greggory, mo, crawford, and lawrance would be pretty awsome if you ask me.  with high round rookie in the mix with all the depth vets id like it alot.  Ramsey at saftey  id love, i would not mind bosa at all.  my thing is he is knocked for already being good.  other players at his position that are gettin hype are just projections.  id go with a sure thing rather thn a guess anyday.

The only way we would be trading for Mo is if a contract extension was in the works for next season. We already know he's going to be a FA after next season, which is why the Jets are trying to move him. Our front office isn't dumb enough to give away a Top 5 pick for a one year rental, even us as fans aren't that dumb :lol

if leary hasn't had one team look at him as a FA what makes yall think he has any trade vaule ? dude is not that good period.

Mike glennon also has a cap friendly contract for a back up QB, tampa bay is not trading him for cheap.

We placed a 2nd round tender on him, that's why he really has been drawing interest. Nobody is going to give up a 2nd for Leary however they might be willing to trade for him. If we didn't put the tender on him somebody would've signed him weeks ago. You're saying that Leary isn't better than Bernadeau?

Tampa is going to have to give him up soon or he walks for free next season, they aren't in a position to let an asset like a decent QB walk without getting something in return. If you think someone is going to give up a 1st or a high second for him, pass me what your smoking Mike.

Question: Assuming such a thing exists: What kind of package would be enticing enough for you to trade back from the No. 4 slot?

Jon Machota: First of all, Jalen Ramsey would have to be gone. I'm not trading back if he's still there. But if he's gone and San Francisco wants to give me No. 7 and its third (68 overall), I'd listen. In that scenario, you could still potentially get Joey Bosa, Myles Jack or Ezekiel Elliott and then have back-to-back picks at the top of the third. You could package those to move back up into the second or stay there and perhaps use one on Miss. State QB Dak Prescott. I wouldn't be too interested in anything further back than that, though. I'd be trying to stay ahead of the Eagles at No. 8.

Hypothetical... what if another qb isn't taken???
and Goff / Wentz fall to us?

How desperate are the 49ers? 8o

This gonna be good!!!

Regardless, happy the Rams are making a splash!!!

Please let two QBs go first and then Tunsil, pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

That's what I was thinking.

Rams have to go QB. You don't trade all that away to select a DE, a DB or a LT.

Browns have to take a QB. Just because Browns.

Chargers don't really need Tunsil, had 16th & 34th OT. But one would hope they say, we just gave Rivers this huge contract, if Tunsil is there, need to protect Rivers.

Exactly my thoughts

My thoughts were wrong.. PFF right now just tweeted a story of best 3 fits for Tunsil

San Diego Chargers: The Chargers ranked dead-last in team pass-blocking grade last season, and second-to-last in run-blocking grade. The return of left tackle King Dunlap from injury could help, as he earned positive grades prior to his limited 2015 campaign, but he’ll turn 31 this season, so it’s not as though his presence is an impediment to drafting Tunsil. Moreover, the rest of the line was a disaster outside of right tackle Joe Barksdale, so Tunsil’s arrival could really help.
