THE OFFICIAL 2024 - 2025 DALLAS COWBOYS SEASON THREAD || 4-7 Next Game 11/28 vs. Giants Vol. Thanksgiving

Got back this weekend. Who'd a thought Brazil, a country that normally doesn't give two ***** about American Football, loved the Cowboys so much. Game was nationally televised there, didn't even have to go to the only sports bar in the country that televises NFL every weekend. It's amazing how relevant the Cowboys are despite our constant shortcomings.

With that being said, relevancy doesn't equal wins. Garrett made zero adjustments to the blitz. Not one screen called. Then again, the Cowboys aren't disciplined enough to run screens successfully.

I'm not going to sit here and blame Romo. The entire country is already doing that. If Romo makes a comeback and wins the game, its not considered a "big game." We lose to the Seahawks today, its 'Romo is a choker." He'll always be a choker unless he wins a ring. He's had just as many game winning drives as most of the greats. The problem with Romo is the pressure is too much in Dallas. Expectations are severely high and he has big shoes to fill. Romo would be fine in KC, Cleveland, or even Arizona, where he doesn't have to deal with the polarity that comes with being the QB of Americas Team. I won't be surprised if we offer him the extension and he doesn't accept it.

We overachieved this season. Started off 3-5. Only reason we had a semblance of playoff hopes was Romo/Dez. What Garrett was able to do in galvanizing this team despite the Jerry Brown incident is enough for me. Garrett is a young HC, only his second full season. Imagine if we got rid of Tom Landry after his first 7 seasons of less than 6 wins. Gotta be realistic. We had injuries at the same position like no other this season. We even took that bum Michael Coe, who got burned by Ogletree in week 1, and made him an active starter. We weren't going to beat Seattle with Ogletree/Harris starting at WR and the defense was literally running on fumes.

Garrett's problem is the playcalling. He's had this offense for 6 years and the only year we had a prolific offense was when Spoarano was assiting him in 2007 and we were ranked #2. He refuses to give up the play calling duties but its not for him to decide. I expect Garrett to be a "walk around" HC next year.

Miles Austin can go depending on the cap implications. Dwayne and Dez compliment each other well and Miles has too many hammy problems limiting him to the slot position. If we shore up the o-line, we don't need a "dominant #2" because we already have an up and coming elite WR in Dez.

Going to be a long off season in Valley Ranch and Jerry states its going to be "uncomfortable." But the problem starts right there: Jerry. Jimmy said it best a couple months ago: "The culture in Valley Ranch is the problem. There's no fear. Its a country club, where everyones buddies." Barry Church will most likely get extended if he hasn;t already, despite having a torn achillies and not having any idea how he'll perform next year. Dez probably won't get extended until he has an even better season next season, driving his price through the roof and Jerry making him one of the highest paying WR's, causing more future cap implications; Doug Free returns as a starter; Jerry declares the oline is 'fine'; Jerry makes CowboyNation believe we are once again "1 player away from SB contention."
How long you been in Brasil mane Church got extended months ago lol. The other stuff I can roll with too but whatever it is we need to get it together.

Cowboys fire Rob Ryan. Jerry Jones can go striaght to ******g hell.

Terrell Owens was so ******g right about this team. Holy ****. I'm fuming.

T.O. said it. He said it about the scapegoats Dallas makes. Heh...this ******g team...this ******g team...

Offense was as healthy as can be and was complete BUNS until the 4th quarter. Defense was LITERALLY put together with ducktape and super glue with all the friggin injuries. Players PLAYED for Rob.

Rob Ryan in Turks & Caicos and was fired on cell phone by Jason Garrett. "They want uncomfortable," Ryan said. "I'm comfortably numb."

Poor guy was on vacation and was fired while eating dinner. Jason Garrett is a classless *****.

I supported him as a HC and said he needed time to develop. But now I see that he just throws other people under the bus for his own shortcomings. Kinda reminds me of our GM/Owner/President. I see why they get along so well.

This team is going NO where yall fast...

Well that's unfortunate. I don't think Rob Ryan is great but he did OK given all the injuries and I would've given him one more year to prove something. Plus the players were just starting to get a grasp on his scheme and now they have to learn another one. You can't change coordinators every few years

im convinced this team will be nothing but mediocre for the rest of my god given life

I hear alot of people mad about this but did Ryan ever play aggressive and play press coverage and blitz even when we had all our starters ? No really This team needs go back to the 4-3 and leave that 3-4 stuff to the Steelers etc. Plus our current DL situation is more suited for the 4-3 and it is easier to get a 4-3 OLB than covert a college DE to play OLB in a 3-4. Go back to the 4-3 Get a OLB and a S and get OL straight. We need sacks and TO and we just didn't get those. No hard feelings Ryan it just didn't workout.

Rob Ryan was amazing given the circumstances. Jason Garrett should've been the one to get axed, not Rob.

Would not be surprised if this just boiled down to Jerry being Jerry. He wants Yes Men, guys in the locker room he knows he can control.

Not a fan of this move at all.

Yep. Pretty sure Rob Ryan told Garrett his offense was doo doo, and Garrett convinced Jerry to fire Ryan.
He will probably end up in Philly and win a Super Bowl.

one year with no offseason work/ training camp and one with half his starters gone down the stretch. I guess rob ryan is the scapegoat for our lack of creativity on offense and consistently sputtering running game?!?

T.O. basically said Garrett was a horrible head coach, and Romo needed to step up.
Romo has stepped up, but Garrett is useless.

:lol Rob Ryan is junk. Crazy to see so many people upset at this move

Ask anyone with any real insiders knowledge or clue of how it is...hes obvious not junk but he's seen better days. Not going to be many teams "jumping" at the opp to talk to him about coming in

It was a move that had to be made. Garrett and Romo have one or two more years, probably undeservedly. But...You guys are close so the risk is worth it

He should've gotten one more year. There is never any continuity with staff coming and going every couple years.

Romo has stepped up, but Garrett is useless.

Correction: T.O. said Jason Garrett offense needed to step up and Romo was not a vocal leader. Both of which are true.

If you have to get rid of a player in order for you to "Now become the leader of the team", you weren't a leader to begin with.

Until Jerry chills out and stop looking for staff to stroke his ego, we will continue to lose. I mean, what's the point in having that and your team isn't successful? I'll take winning over having a bunch of yes men around..... Sounds like the Charlotte situation w/ MJ

If they hire Ray Horton (rumored to be the top candidate) that would be a big upgrade over Rob IMO

All things considered with all the injuries Dallas had on defese, Ryan did a good job. Our defense has been solid for the first time in a long time. I don't agree with this move at all... He should've had more time with a healthy defense.
