THE OFFICIAL 2024 - 2025 DALLAS COWBOYS SEASON THREAD || MEH

We have a lot to clean up but I'll take that dub anyday!

This.
The reverse jinx strikes.

We'll be fine. Incorporate more Escobar, Beasely, Dunbar out of the backfield. Maybe Lucky Whitehead. Street was fine. He and T-Will need to hit the jug machine heavy, though.

Damn broken bone for Dez!??! that sucks.

You could tell how he was walkin off he was hurtin. He'll come back strong.

Ugly win. We were beating ourselves.

Have to just hold on for the next 4 weeks.

Philly will be tough if we can't pressure Sam Bradford.

Need to handle business versus Falcons & Saints.

Then take scheduled loss against the Pats.

Couple of things I noticed on the positive & negative:

Offense -
Romo has gotten even better at reading the defense. He saw everything the Giants were doing, wanted to do and would do later on.
WRs need some Stick Um on their hands Word to Hot Hands in Little Giants

Running Game wasn't great. 23 rushes for 80 yards is not good, especially when you have elite blockers. McFadden brought us down, Randle was good enough. But needs to be better if he's going to be the guy that takes pressure & plays off of Romo.
Where the RBs did great was as receivers. They took short dump passes and extended them. Dunbar did it masterfully. Randle & even McFadden showed good instincts as receivers.

Line was great as always.

We may want to think about using Witten as more of a distraction. He'll get his, but it has to be as a decoy first. Everybody knows he is Tony's security blanket. But unfortunately he's slowing down. If we can try to fool the defense more by running routes that look like he's the target, it will free things up for Escobar. Also I'd like to keep Witten at home more to block, even on the pass. We do a lot of quick bump and run routes for him already, but maybe mix it up. Because if he's always going to take a quick bump then run one of two routes, it gets a bit repetitive. Maybe fool the defense into thinking he will do a quick block then run his route so they commit another defender on him, and instead keep him at the line.

With Dez out, we should be at strictly 1RB, 2WR (TWill & Bease), 2TE (Witten & Esco) sets.

Defense -

We allowed too many dump off passes. We played the safeties back the whole game, and it seemed like they had just enough space to get some passes over top of LBs and under the safeties. In the middle and on the sides.
The tackling was subpar. A few too many plays where we let up a few extra yards because we didn't get a good tackle in.
Brandon Carr sucks. Forever.
We got decent pressure on Eli as the game picked up. Need to get more on Sam Bradford. Just 1 good hit and we can play against Mark Sanchez.
Wilbur, Lee & Crawford were very good. That's encouraging, especially from Lee.
