THE OFFICIAL 2024 - 2025 DALLAS COWBOYS SEASON THREAD || MEH

We have to spend some money on the right pieces. Don't go out here and throw boatloads of money at useless linemen such as Livings and Bernadeau :{ .. Sign some proven guys already! Our line is so SOFT, which is why we're having an issue running the ball. You can't play smash mouth football with a non-aggressive line that refuses to get dirty (oustide of Smith, Fredrick).

It blows my mind we haven't been able to fix our safety issues since Woodson left. I hated everything about Hamlin and Sensabaugh :x .. We have Chruch, who I like, but can we go out here and sign a legit safety with a proven track record to pair him up with!! I would've taken a watered down Ed Reed over Will Allen.

Justin Durant and Ernie Sims aren't the answer next to Carter/Lee either, spend some money on a veteran. DL needs some depth and another pass rusher, I thought Henry Melton would've came over with Marinelli.

Coaching wise, I'm ok with the defensive staff this year. The offensive staff is a whole different story :x .. Callahan was never a great play caller to begin with, why not bring in Norv Turner or someone from a team who consistently leads the league in scoring? WR coach Derek Dooley was AWFUL at La. Tech and Tennesse, why bring him in? Why is Wade Wilson still the QB coach? Bring someone in who is going to hold Romo accountable for his mistakes! I like what RB coach Gary Brown brings to the table but other than that our offensive staff is a mess.

Church is second highest rated safety in the league right now, obviously that fumble return inflates his grade a bit, but still. The Church extension looks great right now.

Imagine if Church hadn't gotten hurt last year.
Might have been a 10 win season.
Which is probably where we will end up this year.
We have a team with 12-4 talent, but they only have 10-6 heart.

Sean, Church and Costa. No doubt in my mind we win the division if they stay healthy. Don't lose to Washington in Dallas, the Giants or the Saints.

I was critical of Jerry after extending Church when he was already out for the season with a torn achillies especially since some people don't ever come back the same. Jerry took a gamble and it paid off. Still a fluke in my eyes :lol but I'm happy we have Church. Danny Mcray was so basura last year. How him and David Arkin still have NFL jobs, I'll never understand.

I wish we would put Dez in motion...just once...

Yall acting like KC hit us with the truck stick.
We clearly beat ourselves with mental mistakes and turnovers.
The least I expect from this team is 10-6.

There's only 8 teams with 2-0 records right now, and only three of those teams are in the NFC.
I think were in pretty good shape.

yeah and its the same old story every year, Dallas consistently loses close games, numbers don't lie check our win/losses record in games decided by x amount of points, honestly I forget what the exact number was, also the last time we won a game by multiple TDs and really smoked a team was in 2011 against Buffalo,

I follow this team 365 days a year and I have a pretty good grasp on what they are, seriously talented with enough pieces to win 10 or 11 games but they lack the makeup to do so and their OL will not allow them to effectively run the football which also prevents them from getting over 8 wins. Right now the playcalling is holding them back too, major problem there.

Its early in the season, but the same issues I preached about in July are showing up in the first few weeks and I have a hard time feeling great about our team.

Hopefully I am wrong about them and they get going but I will be waiting for them to do so

:lol well it's been the same story for how many years now? Beat a good team, come back the next week and flop against a team we should beat. How many times have we CLEARLY beat ourselves with mental mistakes and turnovers? Same ol' ****, just a different day.

Wilcox is working with the ones. That didn't take long. Allen was supposedly amazing during camp, of course he'd crap the bed when the season starts :{ But I wanted Wilcox to take over regardless.

Will Allen sucks, idk why people ever got excited about that signing, funny thing is they had to make moves and free up cap space for him

Honest question for those of you saying that Dallas will go 8-8 or worse. What makes you say that?

Maybe I'm just looking at things unobjectively. But this team went 8-8 last year with Romo having a career high in picks, with an Oline that was far worse than the current iterations, with Dware being average for 8 games, Dez being average for 8 games, with the team setting franchise records for futility in the run game and in forcing Turnovers, and with the team losing Church, Lee, Carter, Ratliff, Coleman, Scandrick, Costa and Murray for at least 6-14 games. Spencer also missed time too and Dez wasn't 100% the final four games, Miles was 80% at best the entire season and essentially missed two games, both losses. All of that with a more difficult schedule than this season.

Of course things can always go wrong with the Cowboys. But pretty much all of those circumstances will be gone or lessened by default. We won't have those type of injuries again, won't only force 16 turnovers and Romo won't throw 20 picks. Plus our young guys in Mo, Dez, Carter, Smith, Harris and Church all will be/are better.

And the division is alot worse too. The Skins will be done by the time the offense starts to click (look at their schedule) we've been better than the Giants in New York and finally beat them in Dallas so it wouldn't surprise me if we sweep them. Either way they look horrible. Phillys offense scares me but then I look at their defense. We are clearly the most well rounded team in the division.

Alot of us don't realize how much Dez helps the team too. The team went 5-3 the final 8 games of the season once the light went on for Dez. Only losses were vs the Skins and Saints. He makes this team immensely better. And again, the final half of the season we had career practice squad bodies starting. Go back and look at the guys that started week 17 vs the Skins. It'll blow you away. We forget how bad that D was.

Barring an injury to Romo or multiple injuries to one side of the team like last year I don't see how this team is only just as good or worse than last year. But I admit I'm looking at things as a Cowboys fan, and the team has proved me wrong in the past, but I really think this year they'll at least be in the playoffs.

But imho, saying Dallas is going 8-8 again is saying you don't see the impact that Ware, Church, Scandrick, Lee, Carter and Dez bring to the team.

Edit: All the guys that played on defense vs Washington

Connor
Spencer
Frampton
Hatcher
Claiborne
Sims
Lissemore
Sensabaugh
Poppinga
Albright
Carr
Moore
Crawford
Peprah
McCray
Spears
Ware
Jenkins
10 of those 18 names aren't with Dallas anymore, one is currently the #5 Linebacker, one is the #4 safety, one was playing with one arm, one was a rookie.

How many of those names are on an NFL roster right now? How many even got invited to a training camp? Yet those guys were still one drive, down 3 at the 30, with 3 minutes left before that which shall not be talked about happened. Don't see how a logical argument other than "well its the Cowboys, same ol same ol" (no matter how valid that argument can be at times :lol :{) can be made that this current team is equal or worse then the team last year that was 70 yards away from the playoffs.

And for all the talk about the lines, one has actually been really good in pass protection and the other has also been really good.

Just based on what i saw the first two weeks. 6 turnovers and we cant move the ball in the red zone. We cant run the ball and our schedule only gets tougher.

I agree health has a big part to do with it and i pray that most of them stay healthy.

Romo has almost thrown it 100 times in 2 games, unless your name is Drew, Tom, Aaron or Peyton thats not good.

The run game just isn't there, whether it is Murray not seeing the holes or the line not getting a push (some of both in my opinion). We are going to need to control the ball against Denver, Green Bay, and New Orleans.

The defense looks good but our offense needs to be able to put up more than 16 points for that game when our defense just doesnt have it (which will happen)

Im not as worried about Philly in the division race as i am of Wash and NY, which is why i feel last game was big to give away. Being 2 games over them would have been huge especially seeing how they have a history of getting hot late and us doing the opposite

Benefit of the doubt just isnt on our side

The close games we lost last year were games we were trailing in and made 4th quarter comebacks.
We trailed going into the 4th quarter in 11 of 16 games last year.
And when we were leading the defense couldnt hold the lead.
Not to mention Garrett's inability to call plays that would protect the lead.
Theres no way we go 8-8 with a 85-100% injury free starting lineups on both sides of the ball.

Seriously what makes you think our team has the mental compacity to win 10 games? You can have all the talent in the world but if you don't have what it takes mentally it's never going to click. When is the last time Dallas has dominated in all 3 phases of a game? For the most part of these past couple of years the defense has kept us in A LOT of games, even the ones where Romo marched down the field late in 4th quarters. To me, it always seems like the defense bails us out. Until I see us play a complete game on a consistent basis, I'll stick with 8-8. You can't win 10 games settling for FGs in the red zone instead of TDs :{

I thought things were really going to click this season, but after the 1st two weeks it's the same **** over and over. Bad play calling, can't run the ball, suspect offensive line, stupid penalties, and turnovers! We've been repeating the same cycle over and over again since we went 13-3. The philosphy of the coaching staff is so inconsistent.

Yes, our division is watered down, but it's been a STRUGGLE for years to get 9 wins. I wouldn't be surpised if the bum *** Giants took the division.
Our schedule last year wasn't that tough, who did we beat besides Cincy that was a playoff team? The year before that, 2011, we should have easily won 12 games but we forgot the game of football is 4 quarters not 3!

Look at a team like the 49ers, they get embarrassed by Seattle last week but you know they are going to come back out firing this week vs Indy. Not saying is an automatic win but we know they will come out much more prepared and stick to their gameplan. Now look at Dallas, lose to KC and not one person in this thread can say they have all the confidence in world that they will come out with a chip on their shoulder and handle STL with ease like they should. We don't know if we want to be a smash mouth physical football team with a great D or a high powered offensive who can outscore you like the Pats/Packers. Every week it's something different, no consistency on the offensive side of the ball leads to 8-8.

I want to believe in this team so bad, but they refuse to show me otherwise, even when I'm looking at things unobjectively :lol

I'm not typing a long paragraph or getting baited into the argument again like I do every season. Let Dallas show me something, then I will become a believer. Until then, I see an average football team.

Seattle was an up and coming team last year and play like rabid pit bulls at home (ask the Saints and 49ers).
Chiefs play hard at home and have been marked as a possible playoff contender.
We lost Sean Lee after the Seattle game last year. We lost no one after the KC game.
Offensive line wont be a problem this year with the addition of a 6 time pro bowler.
I see 11-5/10-6.

Seattle is legit at home, but that was Week 2 of the season and no one had a clue they would be as good as they are now.

I can't agree with the Chiefs playing hard at home. The Chiefs have won a grand total of 4 games at home over the last two season, 5 if you include last week.

Offensive line will be a problem if someone gets hurt because we have no depth. I can't put all my eggs in the Waters basket just yet.

I hope your vision is right with 11-5/10-6 8o
