THE OFFICIAL 2024 - 2025 DALLAS COWBOYS SEASON THREAD || MEH

Terrence Williams :{

Outside of Carr and Church, our secondary is suspect. Scandrick is occasionally caught out of position but asked to do a lot though.

Our offensive playcalling is so mind boggling. What happen to all those playcalls John Kitna got when Romo got injured?

Why is Kyle Orton always staring directly in Romo's face?

+3. Its funny though, when I go out I'm very boisterous about my Cowboys fandom. Not rude or arrogant but stand pretty firm. When I start getting excited about the Cowboys making a play, the other people in the bar start revealing their Cowboys fandom and it usually ends up being half the people in the place :lol . I notice a lot of Cowboys fans around here kinda keep it to themselves until another fan maybe gives them a "push." My barbers tried to dog on me one day saying "Bro, you the only Cowboys fan in here everyone else is Giants." Then a dude next time me timdly raised his hand "Ima Cowboys fan" and then, 2-3 more people ended up revealing they were fans too (one had a Cowboys iPhone case). Ended up being about half the shop :lol

Claiborne got benched today fellas. Part of me agrees as he's been struggling but part of it is the man is playing with one shoulder and is playing in a scheme he's never played before. The blame really goes to Jerry for not building a solid foundation with this team, trading for Mo one year, then switching schemes the next that don't even accommodate his skill set.

I live in enemy land, New York. It's not easy up here >:

add me to the list as well :lol

its so frustrating knowing dez could be putting up huge #'s & really helping this offense when we aren't giving him the amount of looks he deserves... this "playing safe" style is killing us |I

gotta love how the run game gets abandoned again too.

rivers picked apart our defense... he's been on a tear this season. makes me afraid of what's in store this week.

still in first place though... hoping we can get it together & build a nice lead. now's the time to take advantage.

After thinking about it, wouldn't surprise me at all if we win this week :lol Not picking Dallas but it wouldn't surprise. The Cowboys usually win the games that they seem to have no shot in. But, they'd win then lose three straight to Washington, Philadelphia and Detroit :lol :{

Try growing up in the Philly media market. You should see the way people turn up when the Cowboys are mentioned. Its made me that much more of a passionate Cowboys fan though. Definitely could be another "RIP to a NT'er" thread we ever win a SB cause someone will not be able to take the disrespect that I'd be spewing.:rollin :rollin

What exactly does benched mean for this situation?

As in he's the new nickle corner. Don't know how I feel about this. Mo's problem right now is entirely confidence imo. Won't gain much confidence if he's not playing.

We've seem him play great multiple times in the NFL, guy didn't just magically forget to play corner.

Of course his technique could get better, but he's still new to the NFL. PP is in year 3 and he's just now getting recognition for his cover skills, and he's still not the best at that. Difference between Mo and PP tho is that PP makes plays. Mo has only made one play that I can think of. Don't think he will ever develop that playmaking ability. And if that's the case and he's not covering good why keep him on the field.

They need to just let him play Man to Man most or the time. Saw real progress from him towards the end of the season in that regard. Dude isn't a zone player.

Claiborne got beat on inside routes by a bigger receiver, and well thrown passes.
Eddie Royal ate him for lunch in the slot one play, but it wasn't a killer.
The one game we needed our offense to pick up the slack, and they let the defense down.
San Diego had the worst defense in the NFL, and all Garrett can muster is 14pts.
Chargers were averaging 26pts a game coming into Sunday.
As a coaching staff you know they are going to score at least 21pts, so your offense should be prepared to score 22.
Think about this. Garrett has been here for 7yrs as OC and HC.
Does anybody know what his football philosophy is? What about his offensive strategy?

I have to avoid all internet interaction by friends this week (I'm from San Diego and I live in Kansas City :{)

You should call Valley Ranch and demand they send you a team signed Dez jersey and game ball.
They completely let you down as a fan. :{

Mo isn't the same player he was at LSU right now. I hope he turns it around but it may not be this year.

1. New scheme, he didn't play zone or cover 2 at LSU, he played a lot of man to man.

2. He's missed a lot of time. This year and last year he missed basically the entire pre-season.

3. He's been hurt, he can barely move his shoulder.

4. His confidence is shot right now.

All of these things combined are what make players "bust". I hope it doesn't happen because he was one of the best corners I've scouted the past few years in college football. I think you give him one more full season (2014) before we label him a bust, but we haven't seen many plays this season that wow us to the point like yeah this guy is going to be good, last year he flashed some though.

Even if he does indeed bust, I can't blame Dallas for moving up for him.

I know were talking about Claiborne for the sake of discussion, but this dude is in his SECOND year.
He's entitled to a lite bit of a drop off.
The only bust on this team right now is Jason Garrett.
Three straight seasons starting 2-2, and possibly three straight seasons of finishing 8-8 and missing the playoffs.
Washington went on a run last year and won the division. That can very well happen again because RG1-3 is a winner.

A couple of stats I heard on the radio:
In the second half of the Chiefs game we had 19 consecutive pass plays.
On 23 possessions of 3rd&3 or less we have only run the ball on 7 of those 23 possessions.
Remember when Ray Lewis said we had the simplest offense he had ever seen?
Everybody knows we aren't COMMITTED to the run.
Denvers play calling per game is 33pass to 30 run.
Patriots 39pass to 30run. Seattle actually runs more than they pass.
Each of those teams are 4-0.

Claiborne's been hurt a lot since he has got to the league. I'd like to see a full healthy season from him with the same defensive system in place before thinking about dealing him. He supposedly was having a very good training camp before the injury.

Is it possible we could have an O-coordinator with his own system come in but keep Garrett as HC? I think he has the team going in the right direction and our scout have been doing a magnificent job finding obscure players to come in and fit the system, but, his offensive shortcomings kill us when they start to stack up. I know Jerry would probably be road block to something like that happening.

A lot of negativity being thrown around in here, which is to be expected after losing to a team that from a talent/injury stand-point is in re-builiding mode, but the only thing that matters at the end of the day is Jason Garrett.
Initially I was a fan of him, but like ol boy said above, dude is roughly 7 years deep and we have no idea what his style of play is... all we really know is he produces a product that is consistently mediocre & he's extremely stubborn on a number of different levels :{ :{

The way I see it Garrett feels like if he's going out, he's going out running his system.
Which you can't blame him, but job security shouldn't be his concern.
Winning games in the NFL is your job security.

If your system is flawed you have to make adjustments to win, that doesn't stop on the football field either, it really should apply to one's life. It's not our fault he was born with red hair man, fu**.

We need a REAL OC simple as that. Like I said 2 weeks ago, we don't know if we're a smash mouth run it down your throat type of team or a high powered, no huddle, let's outscore everybody type of team. NO IDENTITY. Garrett still has the same exact playbook from 2007 :{

Just wondering you guys take, IF we were to fall to 2-4, does Jerry pull the trigger and snipe carrot top?

na he won't fire him mid-season, he has nobody to replace him

end of season? yes, Garrett def could get fired

I hear all the time he isn't on the hot seat, but I disagree with that
