Now I'm even more confused. This makes me think the 86 was in fact released and not a promo sample. Someone needs to reach Tinker and get an explanation lol.
I'm confused, why do you say/think this?

The vamp/toe box stitching doesn’t look smooth and the placement of the word “Susan” on the tongue tag is on top of the stitching. Mine is above it, see here:These look fake to me thoughts?
singledout uncle had a pair. He wasn't a Nike employee or tester. He bought them in a store. My understanding is the big bubbles were all 1986. Idk why that's not considered to be the og year. Seems odd they'd use 87 when the 1st am1 was in 86.I'm confused, why do you say/think this?
Help me out please.
My LTPT from StockX came in today.
But they came in like this
Box ripped and fixed with tape, tissue paper ripped but worst of all (finger?) stains on the heel.
Filed a case and now I am waiting on a reply. Anyone here had the same issues with StockX and how did they handle it?
Thanx fam.
That's a minor stain, you should take the coupon. You can remove that stain with an eraser and it will look fine. As for the box, we all have a few boxes like that, no biggie.

Almost all of these have some of this suede bleeding issue - primarily on the heels. It's an issue from the production/packaging at Nike. I was able to remove the spots on mine using a crepe rubber eraser.Damn just checked my pair and it kinda has that spot too
Might be a Nike thing rather than a SX thing..prolly something with the dye and way the shoes were shipped.
they were also released in europe and other asian countriesThey were released in Japan only in 2004
Really? I don't recall that. I just remember them being released in Japan. Sorry if I'm wrong.they were also released in europe and other asian countries
Okay, here's the deal - hopefully this will make sense to you. As @ AIRMAXDISCIPLE already mentioned above, the original 'Big Bubble' design of the AM1 was in fact released (not just a sample or anything like that). However, a plethora of both production and user issues quickly had Nike make revisions to the design of the midsole. This means the original 'Big Bubble' versions only were produced in relatively limited numbers (both '2377 Red' and '2477 Blue') before the change. As for the 1986 vs 1987 thing; production of the AM1s began in 1986, but were not released til 1987. There's always some confusion on the year people refer to for various styles, because some are referencing the production date(s) that they see on the size label, while others refer to the release date. Generally, a lot of people tend to use the production dates on older pairs - probably because they weren't into these shoes back then and don't remember when they released, while using the release date for more recent pairs. Hopefully this helps.

PS: The 'Urawa' are not from 2005. They were released in Japan only in 2004 as a tribute to the Red Diamonds winning the 2003 Nabisco Cup.
Also, I forgot to mention, that's a cool pic of your uncle! Very cool he had those. If he actually still has them somewhere it would be amazing.
yes, i saw them back in 2004 on kickz.com and a sneakerstore called seventy5 and no need to apologize making mistakes is part of being a human lolReally?
Yes, these were produced in 1987 but not released till spring 1988. And as a fun bonus, although they're commonly referred to as "obsidians', the blue color used was not named as such by Nike on these - it was Navy Blue (which you can see if you have the box). Back in the day, people would call these the "Alternate" as they looked like sort of a mix between the reds and the blues.SUPER BLACK So then I guess my question is, are my OG obsidians 1987 or 1988 in your eyes?
