You might considering how great both series are.

In regards to akira, keep in mind the context of which it came out.

Given that, it's awesome to a lot of people.

You know it. That probably my favorite anime if I don't have to think about others.

These are my favorite animes that I recommend watching if you haven't already.

Fate/ Zero: In my opinion, it's the closest thing you get to a perfect series.
Samurai Champloo: Very fun to watch, great replay value.
Cowboy Bebop: Haven't finished it yet, but I love it so far. It has the same vibe as Champloo
FMA Brotherhood: Great story and execution
Attack on Titan: I still think it's a tad bit overrated, but its a good show (I would pick the previous mentions above this easily)
Code Geass: To me, the ending truly made the show spectacular
Gurren Lagann: If you take it for what it is (mindless fun) you'll love this show
Mu*****i: Just a beautiful series

Shows I have yet to watch but I am planning to:
Count of Monti Cristo
Baccano
Eden of the East

Any advice on which to watch first and what to avoid?

Thanks for the list. I'll have to check out fate zero by this summer.

Did you write mu-sh-i-sh-i? If so, I'll have to check that out as well.

I don't think you should avoid any of those, since I've read good things about all those animes.

I however didn't like Baccano too much.

The animation/voice acting is excellent, but I didn't like the story.

Nagi No Asukara ended today. A surprisingly good show and a far cry from what i thought it was going to be. :lol :hat

Yes, that's exactly what I meant. Why the heck is it blocked?

It's a different vibe than the rest of the shows. It's way more relaxed and serene (for the lack of better explanation).

Thanks for the advice. I'll check out count of monti cristo first.

Durarara much better than Baccano in my opinion.

As of right now, I like Baccano better than Durarara.

I lose interest very easily when I watch Durarara.

I started Durarara a year ago and I'm only on ep. 9.

Each episode feels like an hour.

All of this :lol I damn near thought I would drop it early on, but I'm glad I didn't. Had some depth to the plot.

I feel you, Durarara doesnt really get going until after episode 11

I fall off the horse on Durarara right around here too, and for this exact same reason :lol

I'm going to try to start over and marathon it this summer.

I've always thought that Eden of the East was very good. All three are good, but EotE was the best of the 3. Probably not on my top list of favorite anime of all time, but it's solid.

Awesome. Will put that on top of the list. Thanks! 8)

Is it just me, or does the latest chapter remind you of the balfour declaration.
