Thats one thing you dont have to worry on a mac is a virus..youll be fine..I use limewire on my joint.

I wouldn't use Limewire... and Macs aren't 100% virus-safe.

OK this is going to be a really dumb question

On the MBP's with the dual video card.. if I want to use the 9600 do I have to turn it on? Or does it just automatically take from it when it needs to?

cragmatic - be sure to post what happens when you take yours in for the screen. mine does the same thing when i hold it at certain angles. i read it'spretty common, but im curious to know if it's something that could be fixed.

also. you have to turn the second video card on. gotta throw it into high performance mode.

How do you turn it on?

And yeah I copped one of those speck covers for it.. .I didn't know if that had something to do with it.. but since you have the same problem I guess not

^^go to system preferences. then go to energy saver. then at the top it will say Graphics: better battery life or higher performance. set it to higherperformance and it'll restart in the high performance mode.

Im offically sold on upgrading my 13inch unibody MB to the 13 inch MBPwithe beefier specs had to clean out my mac today cause it was running sluggish since I've loaded appetite and Photoshop so I guess for the Photo workI'm gonna be doing soon I'm gonna need it. I'm letting it go for 1100 loaded with tons of prof. apps in the ATL area(I'm on vaca out here) ifanyone wants it I'd knock 100 off for nters it has a brand new shell

Forgot how much I love Mac's:hat

Had a Macbook before.. now a 15 " pro is sooooo nice...

The Screen is very nice.

Just curious how many people use IWork?

I got a free copy of Office and already loaded that (and yes it was legit free, microsoft sent it to me)

How compatible is IWork really? I play with it at work all the time, and I like the way it works a lot better.

I've been using Keynote '09 (LOVE it!) and I've had no problem viewing a keynote in PowerPoint on a PC.

I've tinkered around with Pages and Numbers and have had similar results. I figure you shouldn't encounter any as well.

i know there not 100% virus free but in the 5 Plus years ive been a mac user..all of my macs have had limewire and ive had NO issues..When I ws aPc user I had tons of issues..

Yeah, I'm just saying that Limewire wouldn't be my first choice in a P2P program for a Mac. I do everything "privately", anyway

Yup, that'll do it.

The Speck cover adds weight to it and forces the lid closed or open depending on how you hold your MBP.

Same exact thing happens to mine since I bought the Speck Satin cover. I've gotten so used to having the Speck cover on now that when I took it off, itfelt weird.

I really need a macbook with an external Hard Drive.

Torrents are killin my mac mini now.

Are there new MBP's coming out relatively soon?

jehlers02 - MBP were just recently upgraded/updated don't expect much till next year.. why not just buy an external hdd?

macbook pro 13", its compact and fast, just get the base 2.26 ghz model, the 2.53 model gives you insignificant speed increases that doesn't warrantthe price spike

also, get the base 2 gig ram and base harddrive, you can easily upgrade the ram yourself to 4 gig ($60-$70) and get a 500 gb harddrive ($90) to upgradeyourself

if you can wait out on the harddrive, wait til maybe Q4 or Q1 2010 for solid state drives where they'll be more stable and cheaper and really put that 3.0sata drive to use! (which i'm doing)

Do you guys know the cheapest place to get a mouse for my MBP?

does anyone reccomend a good sleeve? and does anyone use a keyboard skin?
