I need help. I was able to transfer my iTunes library and playlists from my old PC, but all the files need to be located in iTunes. How can I locate all their files at once?

I'm positive there's a way because I've done it before, but I can't remember how.

Any help is appreciated.

It's funny though because a simple reboot fixes the problem for awhile & then it starts happening again. I have a 13'' MBP btw.

Did you possibly get it wet? have you upgraded to the newest OSX version (10.6.4)?

Nah I didn't get it wet...if I did it was probably from moist fingers or something, nothing serious. & No i'm still on 10.5.8. Should I open it up to see if there's something stuck under there or something?

To calibrate, use your battery until it reaches 0% and it shuts down. Then, leave your mbp like that for 5 hours or so or overnight. Then recharge to 100% the next morning.

Download CoconutBattery to see how many cycles you have and the health of your battery.

anybody know what's going on? Should I just try to call apple? I know it's not a hardware issue because if I just close and open my MBP it works fine again. It seems like an area of the lower part of the trackpad is like dead though.

you can always cget it checked out at apple for free. They'll diagnose the problem and then if it's a repair that warrants a cost, they'll tell you beforehand.
I think you should try and see if updating OSX fixes the issue first though

I'm getting ready to buy a new machine for the upcoming school year. I'm 95% sure that I will be making the switch to Mac. However, the only decision I have to make is iMac or MBP????? I already have a netbook to bring with me when I'm at school so I'm leaning harder towards getting an iMac. I'm totally open to opinions. Thanks in advance.

Also, I have some WD My Book external hard drives as well as a Seagate Free Agent drive....will these work on my Mac????

which of the configurations of the macs are you getting? I rather get the macbook pro and use the mini display for my 20 inch monitor. You can take your mac to school and when you get home use it a semi-desktop.
The WD my book works well with the mac only thing is that you have to reformat for the mac go to WD website. A Seagate rep told me you have to pay seagate and they will tell you how to reformat it for you.

I think I've found the solution just tell me if I'm thinking about this the right way.....
Basically, what I have to do is:
1. Plug my WD My Book into the new Macbook and copy all of the files from the external drive to the Macbook.
2. Reformat the now empty My Book to a Mac format
3. Re-transfer all of the files now on my Macbook back to the newly formatted external hard drive
Am I thinking about this the right way??????

So my HP laptop finally died on me and I'm gonna get a Mac Book sometime this week, quick question is there a way to export all of my iTunes library from my iPhone to the new Mac? Ive tried making a backup to a disc but my HP dies every single time I try and I also I don't want to buy an external hard drive, so what's left?

Also do MacBooks have any problems with overheating?

Yes. If it was originally formatted for PC, then it should be NTFS format. Mac's format is HFS+. However, FAT32 allows both platforms to read and write to both Mac and PC. I would recommend doing the reformat with the WD disc if there was one because Disk Utility on Mac seems to have a bug right now that'll write zeroes over your data, and then cannot complete the format process. My 1TB drive is currently waiting for me to have the time to mount it so I can reformat it again because my iMac zeroed it and then wouldn't recognize it and my PC recognized it, began the reformat, and then said the drive was too big. (PC will only reformat to FAT32 if it's under 320GB or something stupid like that.) I would advise doing a lot of reading about reformatting drives before you do it.
Or if you don't need to share the drive with both computers, just reformat it to HFS+ the first time and you should be straight.

Just downloaded Senuti today for that exact purpose. Great program. The 30 day free trial only allows 1000 songs transferred, but I found a keygen for it and transferred 33GB to my iMac in about 10 minutes.
By the way, suck it up and buy the external drive and back up your files regularly. You'll wish you had when something goes wrong.
