My current set up. How do i keep my geek tools (up on the upper left corner: Time, day of the week, weather, etc) up during start up. They never stay there and every time i turn my mac on i have to open system preferences and geektools to get this to show.

what are your time refresh settings? You probably need to change those to be something more frequent. My geektool is set to refresh by the minute, so it takes that much time to begin after startup

Stupid question, but I'm thinking about getting the iPhone 4, I have a iPod classic as well, and I'll still use my iPod Classic for most my music, but would there be any problems hooking both those devices up to iTunes, or would I have to like setup the iPhone to not do autosync songs? I don't want any problems and something gets erased totally.

any device you use will be independent of any others you sync using itunes. You can set them to manually manage music/apps or autosync. You wont have any problems like how you're describing. I sync 4 ipods and countless iphones with no problem

I dig it. I use my MBP in my home office (and run a 22" external monitor off it), and I was getting really sick of unplugging the power cable and everything each time I wanted to go use my laptop on my couch/in bed so the MPA makes for a great coffee table unit. It's considerably slower on paper than my MBP, but since my MBP is so bogged down with apps and harddrive storage, they operate at nearly the same speed.

Take it to an independent Mac specialist. I spilled beer all over my MBP one night and even after drying it out, it wouldn't turn on or anything. I was expecting like a $800 bill, but it was fixed completely free of charge under warranty because the beer never reached the "sensors" or whatever inside the computer that tells Apple that there was water damage.

I took it to the apple store, and they were about to send it in but this other deuchebag came and he was like let me take a look at it and took it to the back and i guess he looked inside...

and he said that he found an evidence of spilled liquid....

and by independent mac specialist, do you mean local authorized mac stores? or just a store where they fix it?

I accidently spilled water in mine. I took it to the apple store and they said he looked inside it and saw some water stains and it wouldn't be covered and had to pay about $950 to get it fixed. What I did was went home, opened it up and cleaned the inside of the computer with rubbing alcohol and some q-tips where ever I saw the water stains. Then the next day went to another nearby Apple store and tried it again, and they sent it out to apple and got it back fixed in 3 days.

On a sidenote, because that happened I ran with a case on it but the case is trash now(speck see thru satin). Anyone got a nice looking case? I see one I might pull the trigger on but just coming here for alternatives.

Can someone reccommend me a 1TB external hard drive?
I have the mypassort studio 500gb, 22gb left

.
Must have firewire 800.
Also for those of you who have HDs just for backups how often do you back up your stuff?
Won't backing it up often kill your HD?
Much thanks NT.

Gonna be getting a 15" i7 MBP soon. Do the people with the glossy screen find it annoying as hell or is it ok? I'm leaning more towards the glossy because I noticed the Matte screen kind makes the colours look a bit dull and faded. I'll be doing Design and Photography work so proper colour is important.
