I'm new to Mac, and my friend says there's "crossover" where you can run Window's programs without installing Windows, on a Mac. Anyone know how this works?
Doesn't make sense to me

.

Will it just run when I install it, or do I have to download something else?

I have Crossover and its pretty good for running a few programs that are not compatible with OS X. Basically, it will just run as an app through Crossover and it should act the same as if were running in Windows. If you need some help, pm me.

got a question, how do i go about extending my warranty for my macbook? i bought it when it came out and didnt get the 2 year apple care. What do i have to dojust go to the apple store and buy it or do i have to bring my laptop? Thanks

might have been asked but i need HELP

SHOULD I COP A MAC BOOK RIGHT NOW OR JUST WAIT

I HEARD THEY GET A NEW ONE IN APRIL ......BUT NOT SURE ON THAT

THANKS

I know this is an Apple thread, but the people looking for a NAS/home server, HP Windows Media Server has gotten a LOT of good reviews since being released. Ibelieve use of Macs does not matter ...

How's the $1000 Macbook? Is it just an overpriced POS, or is it actually good, since it is the cheapest Macbook. I'm in the market for a laptop rightnow.

Or should I just wait until the newer Macbook releases?

not 100% but you have a year since purchase to buy Apple Care(Adds on 3 more years) for your Mac. Accidents are only covered in that 1st year.

i'd go for that, or a QNAP. I was going to get a NAS too but I'm just going to use a time capsule+external HD as one. later on i'll probably use amac mini as a home server when the price goes down/has better specs

if you can wait, then wait till the summer...they usually have some deals like a free itouch and free scanner ect..

also when you get one, use the student discount code

How do you guys feel about the Mac Mini?
My mom was asking her about pricing on a decent tower today.... and I said just get a Mac Mini... all she really uses it for is getting on the internet once inawhile... doesn't use a comp much at all. Would this be a good purchase for her?

Any word on when new Macbooks are dropping? Or is the current aluminum one here to stay for another year or so?

So what's the average life cycle of Macbooks? How often do they pump out new versions of Macbooks? I don't want to buy one and Appledecides to release a new version a few months later.

how can i take the picture of my backround with the aluminum macbook.
i got mine yesterdsay is there a chance of a newer one coming out this year?

apple tends to do hardware updates maybe once a year (speed bumps, custom options, minor features like multi-touch, etc.) very minimal at best.hardware redesigns come around far less frequently. it took about 4 years before the macbook pro was finally redesigned and 2 years for the macbook to take onthe aluminum casing. if aesthetics is all you're worried about then you'll be safe. if the hardware is what you're worried about, the life cycle isabout the same as any other laptop out there. as soon as new technoligies are made available they're usually added to the apple liineup, nothing you canreally do about that.

if i were you, i'd cop. there's really no better time (except for maybe back to school if you want a free ipod/printer). there won't be anyredesigns for a while and i doubt apple will be going quad-core w/ their macbook lineups anytime soon (maybe on the pro if anything). they recently bumpedstandard HD size, graphics card, led screen, back lit keyboard. won't be any major upgrades for a while. next big thing on apple's schedule will be osx10.6 which should be interesting to see

blah!
