Fam, I’m at expeditionary in Bahrain right now, as soon as I saw GTCC……we got two cats here that are owed $13k for their GTCC, we got cats who retired being owed money. The GTCC is a bad idea, perhaps it wouldn’t be as bad if like you said, we had actual PSDs. These young kids just don’t know how crucial a PSD was. It’s like how the hell you can’t have DD-214s ready for folks who did what they had to do, it doesn’t make sense. I came here already knowing this is it, I can’t imagine sticking around longer than my EAOS. I have gotten enough, and I have given more than enough. Missed time with both of my parents, both gone now, missed actually watching good portions of my kids growing up, both grown adults with their own lives, missed quality time with my wife, she has her own career now, and a life outside of being a military spouse. Brought new cars, a house, but I’m not there to enjoy or watch my family enjoy any of it. Plus at this point I’m not the hip relatable older guy, I’m just the old guy, it’s time for me to ride out. Yesterday was the first time in 23 years that I’ve 100% honestly filled out my pha, getting ready to have a lot of appointments for stuff that I just “manned up” and dealt with because the job had to get done.
Man...first off enjoy Bahrain. I love it out there. I'd go back if I can.
But you didn't say any lies. This Navy is just different and the way we have been implementing things has been atrocious. They just drop things in our laps and say figure it out.
But I'm glad you are getting your medical in order. I'm doing the same now because I may retire at the end of this tour. I'll have 25 years in at that point and the only thing that would keep me on is an expeditionary tour here in SD so I could do my high 3 for W4.
I'm not doing any more carriers. I'm not deploying any more. I have given them enough.
