The Official NBA Season Thread: I’m like Jayson Tatum in the Olympics I'm not playing

But but but If you aren't creating dynasties you lost b

That's a one hot championship every 20 year and average and that's so laaaaame

You joke but on the real, with the exception of the Bucks in 2020 who beat the Suns, all the other 5 single championship teams beat 1 of the 4 with multiple championships (Lakers, Spurs, Warriors, Heat). It’s damn near been a 4-team league for two and a half decades, B.

Damn near all the chips came from two states 😂😭

What does falling off a cliff mean to you? They went to playoffs 4 out of the 5 years after that title from 11-12 thru 15-16 (they were 41-41 in the year they didn’t make it). Admittedly bad the three seasons from 16-17 thru 18-19 (Luka’s rookie year) but have made the playoffs the past three years with a WCF appearance.

Making the playoffs 7/11 years with a conference appearance after a lifetime championship run isn’t falling off a cliff in a league of dynasties, man. In the 11 seasons since the Mavs won that title, Bron-constructed teams and the Warriors have won 8 of the them with the outliers being San Antonio, Milwaukee and Toronto.

They won 36 games the year after then 41 the next. For defending champs that's off the cliff.

Why can't he get star FA's? Or keep the ones that do good after leaving his team?

And we can name plenty of teams that's been better than Dallas that ain't dynasties so let's not do that. :lol

36 wins was during the 66 game lockout season, man  I won’t be intellectually dishonest and will admit it was a 7-seed, though. Still a playoff berth and nothing was stopping OKC (who they got swept by) that season anyway IMO.

The Cavs in 2014 and Lakers in 2020 (IDK if you count GSW in 2016) are the only teams to acquire stars via FA and go on to win anything. Even look at the opposing teams that lost in the Finals since then - no stars acquired via FA. Not even sure why this is a thing anymore when in recent history it hasn’t moved the needle for a team except for when LeBron is involved (and again, it is up to you if you want to include KD).

What do you mean by “been better”? Sure, in pockets, but team has consistently made the playoffs at a rate that is probably in that upper 1/3 of the league. At a time when it was ultimately being ran by Heat, Golden State and Cleveland anyway. We don’t even need to breakout the WCF appearance metric like we do in Jokic/Embiid conversations. He got his while others haven’t. He is more accomplished than well over a majority of other franchises since he has entered the league

The Finley/Dirk/Nash mavs squads was good. The Dirk run got them that one ring then they fell off a cliff and became irrelevant until Luka. He has not done a good job as a owner in recent years. No other way to put it.

He was missing on every single big name FA. I remember people asking why don't the stars want to play for him. As much as he supposed to be "forward" thinking all these advancements in player environment the only star you got in over a decade is somebody that was drafted there.
What market outside of LA, NY, Miami has been a big hit for free agency? Criticizing a dude for not attracting free agents given where we see guys typically sign is just foolish. They’ve been a winning franchise who can expect to at least make the playoffs for 2 decades. There’s tons of other owners for y’all to criticize validly and plenty of things to criticize Cuban about but these ones just don’t seem to make much sense.

They hit on 2 stars that didn’t get drafted with the Top pick too. Multiple teams passed on Luka and Dirk. Two HoF franchise cornerstones back to back when you didn’t have the number one pick ain’t exactly something to just blow over. Although don’t think he was owner when they drafted Dirk

Jill Biden trying to placate to THEM and their fake selective outrage of the Angel Reese/Caitlin Clark situation gotta have aepps20 aepps20 conflicted.

Jill Biden’s Relations Advisor has to be fired immediately for advising her to suggest that. Should have just said “it was a good game, both teams played hard, Iowa had a good run but fell short. Congrats LSU.” But nah she had be extra so now Joe gonna give her extra work and make her clean this mess up

She damn sure wouldn't have made this suggestion if Iowa won.

FOH.

And mind you - LA and Miami, who won titles with their big hit FA, hit with LeBron James. Like cmon. What are we doing here
People understandably don’t like Cuban for his goofy comments about AAU, dangerous comments about wearing hoodies and constant whining, but no need to rewrite history on the things we’ve all seen

And him always worried about other teams. Crying to David Stern about the CP3 trade. Sucka. Free Luka Brasi.

Did they do a “Basketball Rules” 30 for 30 yet? That whole situation was b-made. It wasn’t just him but since he is the most outspoken owner, he was the face of it. Gilbert wrote a letter, likely in Comic Sans, to Stern right after it was reported.

Bynum for Dwight was in the works too but THEY couldn’t take to see the Lakers reloading after the new CBA and the Heatles linked up through 2014 :smh:

Good looks! Really looking forward to Jeanie’s account. Such a weird set of circumstances had to fall into place for that even be a possibility. I just can’t get past all teams agreeing and the league saying “Nah.”

Seems like every time there is a new CBA that there is something big that happens right after. That time it was “Basketball Reasons”. Next one was KD to GSW. I wonder if we’ll see anything this time around

This is the first year I didn’t watch a single full game of Men’s College Basketball. My palate is cleansed.

Saw you lurking in the Footy thread. That’s what’s up my guy :pimp:

Leave that amateur BS alone like I did.
