Roy was out of basketball completely all of 2011-12, assumed retired, and then signed with Minnesota for two years, $10.4 million for the 2012-13 season.
He played only five games and the Wolves cut him a month into that season.
The team had inked him to a two-year deal, but they had an opt-out clause in the event injuries caused Roy to be unplayable.

Literally sitting in a hotel on a college visit watching this game on the edge of my seat. I was already a fan and had some of his gear and I was buying his shoes and I liked him but this convinced me that he was my favorite player
