The Official NBA Season Thread: NBA Cup Night

Adam Silvers history of letting the players do whatever they want is starting to catch up with him. If it hasn’t already.
I agree, but Stern could have done him a huge favor if he would have got in front of what the Spurs pulled in Nov. 2012 vs the Heat. Reading what Stern said back then isn't even a consideration now. Said the Spurs didn't inform the Heat, the media, or the NBA they were sitting their players. That's laughable to even think about that has a thing now. Even Shaq's tone was different then to what he says now.

Again.. the only problem is TERRIBLE shooters jacking up 3s. If you’re a 37%+ or better, than fine. But dudes who shoot it at 28% - 32% should not be shooting a lot of 3s. It’s that simple.

The shot is here to stay. Especially with what the Warriors and Celtics have proven. They have the personnel though

Not sure why but the NBA (coaches) clearly value late season game wins over early season wins. I get that you want to be peaking at the right time (playoffs) but especially in the western conference a game or two could be the difference between play in and playoffs or home vs road for the first round.
Teams should know that winning early on puts you in a better place than trying to go on some impossible late season game winning streak. But nope they’d rather do the if we win our last 7 games we’ll make the play in. Basically the Lakers in recent years.

No one wants to watch the best athletes sit in the corner and wait for a 3 point shot all day. That’s called LA Fitness ball. Yes it’s here to stay because of the math and the analytical dudes basically forcing these dudes to become decent shooters, but rule changes are coming if ratings stay low

Teams would rather shoot mid 30s fg pct at a higher volume, than score two at higher efficiency. The math just works in favor.

i don't get it. people hate the state of the game because of all the jump shooting, yet lamelo is attempting 13 threes per game and folks on NT are convinced he's better than Anthony Edwards. things not adding up.

idc what the old heads are complaining about. basketball been hella fun to watch for the last decade. floor spacing and ball movement been beautiful because teams are looking for open shooters.

I knew someone was going to bring up Lamelo. Melo has a randomness and spontaneous nature to his game that most players in this era don’t have. Despite the 3pa’s. They are not all just catch and shoot corner threes or feee throws. He’s more throwback in that way

last four teams to the win rings averaged 30-40 3s/game while also getting close to 30 assists/game. the three has opened up offenses because every part of the court is being utilized. i'm not trying to watch an NBA where teams just throw the ball into a crowded post 75% of the time.
