The Official NBA Season Thread: RIP Kobe 🐍

I'm well past caring about this MVP thing. This is one of the best players ever, we are watching all-time stuff. Guy figured out basketball. Very few people do it.

Like 20 of the NBA 75 are people that shouldn't be there. Bob Cousy and all those black and white TV guys don't know how to play basketball for real. I appreciate what I am watching.

MVP basically jumped the shark for me when Embiid won through whining and his trainers and Stans posting propaganda videos.

The people whose opinions I respect know what it is.

And then there’s people like QU!K QU!K .

There are three MVPs since 2000 that I generally don't agree with, but that Embiid MVP is on a totally different level than the other two (Rose & Westbrook [less so this one]).

The Embiid MVP is a farce. Very much a mistake; it was obvious then and it will age badly.

Most MVP seasons are judged against other MVP seasons to see if they were truly good ones. Embiid's MVP is judged against the guy who came in second place in the same year and you hear more people saying he didn't deserve it than people saying he did.

Y’all defending historically bad 6th place mvps…

MVPs are often close races, so yes, 3 victories WOULD make a difference.

Chiefs in the Super Bowl yet again. Mostly predictable blowout games for the playoffs. But apparently the NFL is a superior product?

Wut? The Chiefs Bills game was fantastic. The Eagles Commanders game was entertaining.

Lebron made it to ten finals “yet again”. Jordan made it to 6. Duncan I think 6.

I think he said six bids are in, as the due date was this past week. The NBA got an extension on expansion talks because of this Celtics nonsense. They have to confirm an owner, and it pushed the Vegas/Seattle timeline down the road another year, at least. The NBA owners really don't want expansion, and this gives them another year of not addressing it. It's the dumbest sports league in America, and that's saying something. They're ignoring TWO major markets that the other three majors have moved into and established ground in. The NBA, so far, is, like, "nahhhh, we're fine with everyone ignoring us".

Vegas: NHL, NFL, MLB (coming)
Seattle: MLB, NFL, NHL

It's embarrassing that the NBA doesn't even have a commitment to these cities, and that the NHL passed them up.

A Vegas team is guaranteed to have a corny silly name like the Thunder do. The Commanders, The Guardians, The Kracken, THE TORONTO TEMPO. All the new sports team names are terrible.

The Valkeries are the best of these and its OK at best.

Tempo is corny but Valkyries isn't?

A list of unavailable names:

Aces (WNBA)
Kings (Sacramento)
Queens (well, you can still do that for a men's basketball team, if you want)
Jacks (I swear, if that is the team name for the Vegas NBA franchise, I'll never stop laughing)

It's gonna be desert related, and it's gonna be terrible.

Yes. A lot of people agree that MJ could've won more than he did. Doesn't mean we need to intentionally limit how many times Jokic is allowed to win because a guy who played decades ago didn't win more of them.
We wouldn’t need to intentionally limit his MVPs if we didn’t give it to him when the Nuggets were 6th.

Jokic is an all-time great, he deserves some of his MVPs. Not that one in particular though.

Don't do that. Ball is life, and these football games been good af compared to most hoop games in any given night. This chiefs bills game was good af.
