Focusing just on last season's coaching:
Ham was deploying a lazy defense, leaving shooters open.
Offense was one-dimensional isos and pick and rolls.
Lineups.
No role definition-mixed messaging.
No accountability in front of the media ("helluva ball club over there").
Timeouts.
Very easy to see why the players were not going to play for him again and he had to be fired.

He's never been efficient as a #1 option, was hoping he would make the lead this year but he's not yet there. The sheer gravity of Embiid frees him up so much and makes all of the difference for him efficiency wise.

I think people often mistake firing the coach as the solution to turn the team around. Ownership could suck, the GM could have assembled a flawed roster, & the coach could be bad at their job all at the same time. Multiple people could share the blame.
We're seeing the discourse now with the Jets & Saleh: "Guess he wasn't the problem!!". He was not the problem but definitely a problem.
