Zone focused, off the hip. I must say, zone focusing is challenging, but very fun.

forgive for my naiveté, but zone focusing + shooting from the hip = easier??? it would seem like it should be, in practice anyways, aren't you pre-setting aperture, iso, & shutter speed for sharpness within a certain 'zone' somewhat not worrying too much about composition in service of getting the shot, so when you 'shoot from the hip' everything will be focus within that preset range?
Yes, everything is preset. The only thing you're judging is how far your subject will be in front of you for it to be sharp. There is a distance scale on the lens, but it's really hard to judge quickly when you're walking towards them and they're walking past you. I could have it set to the same distance and wait for subjects to hit that, but when I'm walking around with a toddler, it's hard to keep an eye out I'm definitely going to try again though.
tokes99 I feel you! Would you say most of your photos were in focus and sharp?
