The Official Photography Thread - Vol. 3

Hoping the 6D will drop to 1300 during black friday :/.
I'm looking at the 6D as well. I currently have the 70D, but the idea of a full frame has me intrigued. Not sure whether to trade it or save up and wait till the 6D Mark II comes out.
So I just bought a 6D and haven't touched my 70D in weeks. I paid 1800 with a 24-105. Went slightly used with 100 actuations. Waiting camera's out is kind of worrisome. After the 7D Mark ii I think the next update will be the 5D MKiv since it is so popular. Get the 6D now and start shooting.

We, at least I, don't have money to throw around like that :lol...I have to play the waiting game.

Seriously neither do I. I charge a minimal amount for weddings and have been saving up since July.

I mostly see Black Friday deals on Rebels or deals where you get bundle packs with bag, extra memory, etc for the retail price of the camera. I could be wrong though.

You're talking about body only dropping to 1300?

I just googled it and you can get bodies for less than that. Not sure about these sites though:

$1,010: http://americacameras.com/index.php?id_product=298&controller=product&id_lang=1&gmc_currency=1
$1,095: http://www.digitaloutlets.net/canon/can6d/
$1,300: http://www.abesofmaine.com/item.do?...1e4fASuW0KoMHFtWy8gShT0UaO29jqq3NsaAik_8P8HAQ
$1,095: http://www.niceelectronics.com/prod...vkffgLKoDGED8KJy0YOeNpf97NJH4hBcmcaAoNu8P8HAQ

I've researched too, but some of those sites I believe are grey market or headaches to deal with.

I can wait a few weeks.

full frame would be dope but I'm hoping the used market on 70D and 7D does me some justice with ppl who are upgrading to the 7dm2

AoM is legit I think.

anyone do the photog meetup with van styles in chicago tomorrow?

Just saw this on The Hundreds site. Pretty much the reason why I can't do meet ups. Haha. Seems like a success though.

If anyone wants a 6D this is the best price I've seen from a site brand new

http://www.digitalrev.com/product/canon-eos-6d-body/MTAwMTQ2MQ_A_A

If you want the 7D you can cop for under a thousand now

http://www.digitalrev.com/product/canon-eos-7d-digital-camera/NzQzMg_A_A

And if you want the 70D here's a pretty good price too

http://www.digitalrev.com/product/canon-eos-70d-digital-camera/MTAwMjc2MQ_A_A

Digitalrev is probably one of the grey market sites I trust based on the reviews.

I'm planning to get a 6D as well hopefully (tax season I hope). I initially wanted the 7D but I don't like CF cards and prefer the wifi capability. It was either the 6D or the D610 with an eyefi card.

I want a 5d3 (but I mean, who the hell doesn't...), but its still over $2700 for the body only grey market price wise. So that won't be in my future any time soon :lol

no offense if you are about this life but it looks pretty ducking stupid.

That is what I mean. I know meet ups are good for networking but sometimes it just gets sort of dumb. I know there is photo content is everywhere but as a mass crowd, I feel like you lose some of the natural sense of things.

In SF, I actually saw a Academy of Art class do this. I just wonder what kind of photos teachers are seeing after all this. Like everyone taking a photo of the same thing but with different cameras and different angles. They should really break them down into sub groups and perhaps assign each group to a certain area to see what they come up with. Something about a massive crowd is just not effective. Granted I think Flaskmob does the best in getting some cool stuff but after seeing a bunch of them, it's becoming repetitive......guy blowing fire, people smoking, etc.

pulled the trigger and ordered the d810. i didnt think it was necessary to wait until black friday for a deal because there isnt much that i want for me gear that would either be thrown in or discounted to the point that i couldnt pass up the sale.only thing i really want at this point is a 70-200 and a 35mm. also after a big purchase like that i couldnt justify spending any more for a while on photography equipment.

really? though I don't think I'd ever participate in one of these, I can see the appeal...i could imagine it being a pretty cool experience even if it just to see people react to a roving mob of people taking pictures. I don't see how it's that different from any photographer doing a photoshoot? is it just that are so many shooting the same subject at the same time? photography is so many different things, capturing a moment, documenting action, making an image, as well as all the different variables of lens, proximity to subject, focus, angle, light and perspective; not to mention editing in post...that 10 people who are shooting the same thing will likely make very different decisions about their shots. and that, to me anyways, is pretty interesting; granted it isn't for everybody but I don't see why it would be stupid or any more stupid than any other type of photography...

fine arts is always subjective... To you this might appeal to me is stupid.

^^ Did you get the books?

And did you use one of those polarizing filters on your lens?

I tried taking a pic facing the sun on my trip to Chicago and it didn't turn out too good.

My laptop died so I couldn't edit them. Tried to edit on Flickr and it wasn't any better from the OG pic.I forgot to delete. :lol
