The Official Photography Thread - Vol. 3

I need some help/advice from anyone... :D

Im going to start my Photo Booth business soon and Im in search for a good and cheap website for this kind of business.

im not sure yet if I need to have a site with print ordering/store right now..im leaning towards not. I think the most important thing I need is a gallery viewing with password protection.

If you can point me to the right direction i will appreciate it!

THANKS NT!

This may be what your looking for - http://dslrbooth.com/

Recent social events I've been too will have the booth take your pics, then you view them on an ipad or something. From there you can print and email the photos to yourself. I haven't used the software in the link, but I thing it facilitates that.

Edit: A better example at http://www.photoboothsupplyco.com. They pretty much have the capabilities you want.

If you just want a site for your company you can just buy a domain with hosting and put WordPress on it. If you're not comfortable doing that, you can probably go through squarespace.com

sick shot man ..... love the way it reflects from the chopper. I was actually looking at helo rides in NYC but didn't find a few boys to come so I stop. How much you paid and did you do it solo? Also, they let you stick out the camera out and do they hoover until you get a shot?
Thanks mate, I flied with nyonair with 3 others people, it's a doorless helo ride so yeah you can stick the camera out no problem. You can even step out a bit and "stand" on the skid.

THEY HAD A FUNDRAISER THAT ALLOWED PEOPLE TO CLIMB THIS BUILDING(2ND TALLEST IN MEMPHIS).... SOME BOLD FOLKS OUT THERE. :rolleyes

STEPPED OUT OF MY COMFORT ZONE FOR THESE SHOTS, IM DEF NOT ABOUT THAT ROOFTOP LIFE. MY BUDDY CAME IN FROM MIAMI, SO I SAID TO HELL WITH IT, I'LL SHOOT U ON THE LEDGE :lol

Finally got this shot. I think the first time I saw it shot was from Rolo. Took a whole later to get it but it's just the perfect angle for the Bay Bridge.

Great Shot Fong ... I like the 2nd over the 1st, but both are great! PS When I look at it again, the 1st one is a lot cleaner.

I'm not sure if you guys are going to recognize this lighthouse from this view, but does anyone care to try and guess where was this lighthouse was feature in a movie?

great shots. i see you kept the 50mm after debating

Yeah. I don't use it a lot but I like having it when I need it. Colors come out way better than the Nifty Fifty. I actually wouldn't mind getting a longer lens but not in the market for one right now. I have been shooting wide so much that I sort of want something absurd like the 200mm. Get things like this:

Went to Yosemite this weekend with some friends. To echo Fong's sentiments from a few pages back, definitely rough being the only photographer in the group. I wanted to take time to set up shots and see different areas, everyone else wanted to just power through the hike :\ barely had time to get the framing right in most of my shots. Would love to make it back out there either solo or with people more into photography.

I hate that. Even if you're not into photography, the point of these hikes are for the views, not getting from point a to point b as quickly as possible. I'm always straggling behind cause I don't care to stay with them.

same.

cept i straggle cause i cant keep up :lol

And one more note, anyone feel like there are some serious trends in photography that sort of not make you want to do things now? Yes there are those trendy things like smoke bombs, steel wool, heli shots etc but I am more or less talking about trendy areas that I see almost every photographer going now. Arizona has to be one of the most exploited places now to the point where I never want to go there. Literally in the last couple of years, I feel like tons of people are going there and getting all the same stuff. Slowly following is Yosemite and other such places like that. It's like a small gripe I have but I understand it as well. It's just interesting how everyone is going there now more so than before. It's like I have to find that new spot now.

Definitely guilty. I honestly believe its only because its more exposed now, but not necessarily people have changed or anything. Yes people certainly do it for the likes and followers and what not, or to try to cause other people fomo, but its only because its so easily accessible through our devices now. These spots have ALWAYS been there. Those GGB or Bay Bridge shots? Hell any photographer on embarcadero selling cheap prints has had those for years. Arizona or Antelope Canyon? Before IG there were post cards of that and all over flickr. Those spots have always been desired. But things become cliche for a reason. I do still think its good that it inspires other people to get up and out, even if theyre getting the same shot. Maybe its how they're starting off. Or maybe they just needed to see it with their own eyes. I don't necessarily think more people are going to Yosemite or wherever now, its always been a crowded **** show there.

I think you have to expect with any image, someone else may have gotten that shot before or will again in the future. Its what you grab and can tell from it yourself though. I've gone to some places and setup the same composition of something i've seen, as sometimes some spots really only have that one view. Its nice when you can get a different perspective. But going out and shooting and seeing why it works that way helped when i discovered new spots or went to more spots, especially in framing. And it really just depends on the mission of the shoot or trip. If some peoples only goals are to only see the popular sights, then yeah they'll only get what they've seen in pics before but now seeing it in person. Its nice to venture a little deeper or go to less popular spots or better yet, unknown spots. Thats why some people are so protective but thats a whole nother story.

One more thing - if you dont like what youre seeing, only person to blame is honestly yourself. We choose who we follow and what we see. If we're only talking about ig there are millions of people out there that havent been discovered, its so easy to get wrapped up in a small bubble.
