The Official Photography Thread - Vol. 3

Speaking of significant others and photography. My ex was cool with it. In fact her son is 11-12 and has a Sony A6000 (the kid took amazing pictures of Italy, while he was on vacation with his father this past summer).....A lot of my free time away from her was spent shooting, so she became curious and wanted to try it out. She went on Amazon, purchased a T5i bundle.....then we broke up not to long after she got it.:rollin

We stil kind of friends I guess...lol. Occasionally she will text me to ask about camera stuff.

Next time I get involved it will have to be with someone who has interest in photography. When I am around and about the 5 boros, I see a lot of couples who shoot together, which is cool.

If I'm out with someone and wanted to take photos or things, they would always want me to take a photo of them instead for Instagram or something. It got annoying, so I stopped bringing my camera when I was around them.

Haven't really stayed up to date with the newest camera technology over the last few years. Man they sound pretty awesome.

is it true they let you see on the screen how the exposure is going to turn out at a certain exposure time BEFORE you even take a picture? man that would be awesome for long exposure shots

And do this day, I have never gotten a good galaxy shot (or whatever it is called) in my life. I've tried multiple times and just don't get what I am doing wrong to get the images that people get. The one time I was at Yosemite, the moon was out and I had no idea you have to go and shoot these things when the moon is literally gone. Just never factored that all in.
i feel you man. I just feel like im missing something. Every single time i import them to lightroom and take a look at them, im disappointed with the results.

Finally got around to looking at my star shots from my tahoe trip last week, this is the best one i was able to get.

Same dilemma I'm going thru now. Leaning more towards the SEL35F18 because it seems more compact. I think the Zeiss is the same size as the Sony 50mm.

I can't answer for all mirrorless but the a6000 does work this way.

yup, pretty much all mirrorless camera are 'what you see is what you get' in terms of exposure(s) generally; it is akin to shooting in live view mode on a dslr...it shows you what the camera is seeing off the sensor, no mirror...

My lady recently started wanting to go out with me when i go looking for shots... said she wants to be my "assistant"

I was telling my girl the other day I want to get into shooting model's andportraiture. About 10mins later I'm shooting pics of her and says, "I need to know what all this stuff means and does so I can go with you"
She only said that because I said I wanna shoot model's.

Does anyone leave on the auto ISO option or does everyone turn it off?

I keep my ISO manual because for what ever reason it swears it should be 1,000+ in broad daylight :rollin

Lol oh no. I'm still pretty new and in the leading process.
I've been watching YouTube videos and get mixed reviews some say leave it on vice versa. One thing I noticed was that when I had it off and picked the ISO myself it was less noise than when I have it on. That's still a problem I seem to have Idk what I'm doing wrong and I never can really tell until I get the photos in light room

Getting back into photography after a few month hiatus. I'm about to go to the fair and do some long exposure shots. Do any of you have any recommendations?

Took this a month ago, but finally got it edited and uploaded for national dog day
