The Official Photography Thread - Vol. 3

Did my first ever portrait shoot on my own... Senior portraits for a family member.

Shot a LOT of shots and had a lot of fun.

Here's a few... (I did zero skin retouching)

Also.. PLEASE feel free to provide any tips, critiques, etc... I desire to get better... not just shallow instagram likes :lol

one of the dopest photographers i follow on IG. noticed you really didn't post here.

give this dude a follow
Wow man that means a lot, good looking out!
And I swear jordvnxsf said he has only been shooting for a year. I hate you dude. Haha.
Haha almost feels like I've been shooting a lot longer than that but I still have so much to learn, it's endless.

I've loved art since I was a kid. From just drawing free hand to drawing Dragonball (Z) characters to graff in high school. I wasn't so confident my artistic ability would translate into photography let alone so quickly. Only way to find out was to finally get a camera and try it out. Best damn decision I've ever made.
Been a while. Recent work.

As always, many more on my blog.

Looks like Leica is trying to modernize themselves a bit. This is the most advanced mirrorless they never made imo. Still expensive and not as advanced as say the Sony with features but cool nonetheless.

the design is pretty dope, i like how it looks almost like an abstraction of a classic camera but this leica doesn't really make much sense, leicas have always seemed to be about the tactile, deliberate nature of making/taking pictures in a small form facto; not only the bodies but also the lenses. the thing that doesn't quite come across in many of the pictures is the camera is rather large and heavy for a mirrorless:

and the lenses are also on the large side...i think leicas have always been something a relatively "discreet" tool; its dope that they are trying to modernize but this seems to miss the whole appeal of what leica is. of course there will still be adapters for other lenses but it will be interesting to see how it will be received by the leica faithful...

Does anybody do any workflow on a Microsoft Surface? I'm thinking of getting that Surface Pro 4 or the Pro 3 seems like a great option for a mobile photographer

IMO they're severely overpriced for the specs you're getting.

But then again, it all depends on what you're planning on doing.

I wouldnt want to upload 1,200 raw files and try batch processing on it... but loading up a handful of pics to it wont hurt.

Unfortunately, It just wont scale up with you.

I know when I used to upload my 300-800 pics that I would take at the events I would work my current laptop, which the Surface Pro spec-wise is leaps and bounds better, it would take a decent amount of time but never anything EXTREME. But then again I think I was using some medium sized RAW files.

I'm thinking I won't be taking1200 pics at one time anytime soon, especially 1200 huge files.

I see.. .

also... when i think paying for tech, i think marginal upgrade to what im currently using.

I copped a 15 inch retina MBP this year and paid 1900 after tax... u can get surfaces for that price :eek !!

My workhorse at home though is a custom built pc that i absolutely love.

I wish Mac would just make a really good Mac Air. I want something really small to edit photos on the fly but the Mac Air just seems slow and it doesn't even have a retina display. The new Surface looks promising but it just hits that territory where you could just get a Macbook instead and I am sure there are other laptops that are just as good and even cheaper.

And damn....that Leica is way bigger than I thought. I was thinking it was the exact same size as the Sony A7.

All of this...

The Macbook air and the super tiny macbook really only appeal to college kids who use it for assignments :x

Once I get settled, either in a house or a studio, I'll focus on a serior desktop to handle my photos full time but now I need something that I can lug around on the fly. I like the concept of the tablet as I can easily share what I'm working on with my model/subject(s) easier with a tablet than a laptop.

I wonder how many years before Mac actually drops a full Apple Tablet that runs the full Mac OS

^^^Honestly with what you want, the iPad should even handle that fine. The apps that it has can do minor edits and enough anyways to get the job done. For me, having access to full photos hop really has to do with masking out things. All the color correcting and even cloning can be done on an iPad and even on my phone. But say if you wanted to isolate a specific subject, it would just be really hard to do unless you had full photoshop. I also would just use it for blogging reasons and editing images for web use, and I don't think it'd be that easy doing it on a iPad.

I used to use my Kindle HDX 8.9 to touch up or edit my shots when my laptop crapped out on me for a while it works very well, I just want the full Windows experience because I'm not able to make custom watermarks or graphic designs on a tablet like I need to without a full photoshop or utilize full edits from lightroom.

Although with Lightroom mobile no longer needing a membership I maybe able to do more on my tablet but will still lack those photoshop needs. And on the other side of that I believe Monfrotto has a tripod accessory that attaches a iPad Air to the camera to use as an external display for it that I'm also eying. But that's moreso the ease of having something connect to the tripod that's made specifically for that device and not something that I rigged together

Found a Sony Cybershot thrifting for 8 bucks. Crazy. It's the DSc-WX50 model. Always good finding gems. Came with a 32GB card too.

50mm f/1.8 prime the entire shoot...

I also have a tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 but I did not utilize it that shoot.

currently saving for the 70-200mm f/2.8 bazooka.

I'm still getting used to my 50mm. For awhile I've been using my 35mm, so things definitely look tighter so I really think a little more using the 50
