If mirrorless is considered I started with a Panasonic GF2. Cheap and simple.

Just curious, why Nikon specifically? I personally shoot with a D3200 but if I could do it over again I think I'd probably go with a mirrorless system. I think the smaller form factor would encourage me to take the camera around more and take more pictures. I'm not at all unhappy with my D3200, I just think a mirrorless would be more suitable for me.
i'm looking to pick up a camera just to shoot daily things such as portraits, food, etc. I'm looking at the Fuji X-T1. The last camera I had was years ago, which was a Nikon D3100.
Where would be the cheapest place to buy this camera?
^^^^I can do January as well. Would be ideal after the holidays anyways. Let's do it then!
When I was doing more for The Hundreds, I was going to ask if anyone wanted to do a Bay Area NT meet up and shoot some photos. The reason why I never did it is cause I didn't think it made a good story nor did I want it to just be a collection of photos posted on a blog. But maybe I can do an article in the future and kind of relive that idea. Talk about the NT community and just how it breeds hobbies such as shooting photos to (of course) collecting sneakers.

I just switched to mirrorless and I also came from a D3200. That's one of the reasons I switched. The 3200 is still small and light to full frame but once I read up on mirrorless and learned more on it I made the switch.

thanks! i'll definitely look into that used one you posted. I don't mind buying used at all and that seems like a really good deal!Good choice
They're running a promo right now so you can get a decent deal on any of the major places, Amaazon, B&H, etc.
If you're open to buying used, take a look at the buy/sell on dpreview. They're constantly being put up on there with lenses included for pretty good prices.
Here's one with a 27mm 2.8 for $900 http://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/3933101#forum-post-56866848
Some camera porn of my Fuji gear
Nice!
So I went with the Fuji X-T1 and bought a 35mm f1.4.
super excited to play with it this weekend.
damn...hella missed that chatter about the choppa!!!
I'm most definitely down for any SF/Bay folks that are wanting to do the helicopter thing.
I've got one, can't remember the exact model but it's a Joby. Works pretty well for a table top tripod but to be honest I primarily use it with my GoPro.Anyone have any experience with JOBY Gorillapods? Looks like the SLR-Zoom model is on sale for $30 with a ball head on Amazon. I'm considering picking one up.
