^ I had the same issue. D600's have a reputation of oil from the shutter getting on the sensor. Nikon is replacing shutters for free right now for D600's...might wanna look into that.

Im just getting into photography and I picked up a Pentax K-500. Any suggestions for a good lens for playing around with DOF.

Heres a shot I took of tonights sunset.
Thats a good *** first shot

. My first shot was of a rubber duck (that was out of focus).

Took the trip down to Niland, CA a couple days ago. Here's a couple shots:

I probably shouldn't have shot against the sun on the last pic, but I think it still came out alright.

I must have met you or seen you at that photo walk and just had no clue. Crazy to think how many good photographers were at that thing and a lot of successful IGers as well. I don't think I shot one photo at that thing just cause it was all too overwhelming but I do have this drive to shoot better stuff now.

Anyways...good photo and dude in the pic is good too.

I'm jelly... Hope to upgrade in June... Real talk I need to start making income from photography because this is too expensive to continue being a hobby haha. I'm about to order a circular polarizer. It costs like $130.
that's what I'm doing currently. people have paid me for some of my shots that I've taken. and I'm starting to do some "save the date" photos this summer. I'm pretty excited because I get to learn and grow my knowledge on photography

how often do you clean the sensor of your d600? i noticed mine gets really really dirty and you could see it in the photos when i go around f10 ++ with studio lights

I have 2 D600's and I've only cleaned each about once. I rarely ever shoot higher than f/11 even in my studio and if dust does show it'll be a small area I can heal easily. Nikon is offering free cleanings for all D600's I believe. I've heard great things about this little cleaning tool as well: http://photographylife.com/product/sensor-gel-stick

Yeah at first I was a bit hesitant about going but I'm glad I did. I got the chance to meet a bunch of IG'ers I've been following for a while. And Van Styles was a really cool dude. If you ever want to go around shooting just let me know. I was the dude in the Supreme beanie drinking tall cans, so I've might have met you.

Where are you located? I just moved to Florida, and in two months I'm moving down to Miami Beach. It is already over saturated with photographers, especially ones doing swimwear and glamour. Not to mention, the majority of models only want to do paid shoots regardless if they have a portfolio or not. I'm currently trying to build my portfolio and get my experience up.

That is my end game as well sir..you're right, its an expensive *** hobby. In addition to the D800 I had a softbox, 2 light standards, another speed light, AND wacom tablet come in.  Smh

Gotta love it. Which softbox did you get? I swear by the Apollo Orb. I want to get two Apollo Strip boxes and I will consider myself done for light modifiers of that type. Love my Wacom, makes everything so much easier it isn't even funny. At this point all that I really would like to add to my setup for me to feel complete is a full frame camera and a 70-200 lens. And i need a tripod head for my tripod. Everything else for the most part isn't something that I will lose sleep over. I would love the D800 but I don't think I can justify it because the difference between it and the D600 is almost half of the 70-200.

I picked up a cheapo Cowboy studio softbox and some other brand shoot-thru umbrella. Flash photography is all new grounds for me so I didn't wanna splurge til I had some idea of what I was doing.

I'm located our here is LA. I think LA is the same way, but you get to meet new people and learn from them. Get to share your knowledge and learn as well. Its overall a great experience. Yeah it sucks that some models are like that. a couple of my gf's who model are actually letting me photograph them for the experience which is dope because I need it lol.

When you get the money, I think the Apollo is great, especially if you get into strobes because you can mount it like an umbrella. Basically I have one softbox I use between my studio strobes and speedlights.

Since I/m new to the area, I don't know anybody. Hopefully when I start working I will use that to my advantage. For the time being all I have access to is Model Mayhem and that is not reliable at all.
