You can go the Land Camera route too. It's definitely not sexy to shoot with but I like their instant film rather than the standard ones. Plus each shot will have a negative where you can scan them in. It's just tough to nail the exposure if you have the manual version. When done right though, you get a nice gloss image with a white border. You can even use a hot shoe with flash and there are some adapters that are like lenses that let you shoot more narrow or wide. I got mine on Ebay for $70.

Hope this isn't to big of a favor, but I was hoping I could reach out to you guys for some feedback on the website I just launched. Feeling good about it, and just picked up a Mark III so I'm hoping for a big summer. Any comments, criticism or feedback of anything is much appreciated!

Mirrorless vs DLSR for mainly street/landscape photography? Maybe some portraits every now and then. I'm just starting out so any info would be appreciated.

I remember the guy talking about Sony A7 and A6000's and thinking he is crazy. Picked up my A6000 with kit lens for $550 last weekend and love it. So much easier to carry than my 6D. Which I save for weddings and in studio shoots. Also picked up the wall mount. So many maternity shoots coming up.

Thanks for the responses. Dope film rig Fong. Will do more research. May put that idea on the back burner for now. Still have some glass and computer equipment on the list.

How much did you spend to make the Squarespace website? As much as I hate template websites, their stuff doesn't look half bad. I might have to go this route since I don't know how to code anyways.

It was $96 for the year and it came with a domain name, figured it was too bad just to get a site running. I'm not the biggest fans of template websites either, but squarespace has many different gallery style templates to choose from. Did my research and decided it was the right one for me.

I'm looking at the A6000 too to go with my D610. Where did you buy yours from?

I'd jump on a Sony A7 given the right price. Luckily with all these new ones they keep making, the older ones just get cheaper and the specs are not that far off from the new one. A6000 seems like a great camera as a second too. That auto focus is just killer for street photography.

Best Buy open box. Guy said half the store owns the A6000. They get them back never used because it's too much camera for most. The salespeople hide them and buy them at the discount. Crazy right.

mirrorless or compact system cameras seem to be the future but i think it really comes down to how important one thinks portability/size & lens selection when deciding mirrorless v. dslr, especially to start...micro 4/3rd cameras are both small and have a pretty well built out lens catalog, however the smaller sensor and the matter that should one ever decide to 'upgrade' to a full frame body the lenses would not be compatible, not that it really matters though it is something to consider. i guess cost is also something of a factor, as most mirrorless systems are more expensive than entry level dslrs, but between the second hand market & the deals on the a6000, cost doesn't really seem like that much of a barrier anymore...
personally i think for hobbyists mirrorless cameras make more sense, they are smaller, which enables one to carry it almost everywhere , less intimidating to learn & use than a full size dslr, and they have they flexibility to mount just about every lens that has ever been made for any camera as long as you can find an adapter (most adapters are super cheap). though if you are planning to shoot seriously, not that mirrorless cams aren't capable, but an entry level dslr probably has more support as far as accessories, lenses, etc.

the thing about the sony mirrorless cameras, is that they are very much modern cameras; that is to say slightly menu driven, highly customizable, feature multiple ways to change/input settings, compact button layout, and of course they are tiny in comparison to the dslrs many are used to using...all those things combined make them a little temperamental to use, you'll find that you accidentally change a setting without trying, or pressing the wrong button because there are so many buttons in close proximity, or forget what a particular button is set as....from reviews i've read this makes many uncomfortable, especially if they haven't customized it to their liking, i have never used a dslr for any extended period so i had less to unlearn...

The Sony A6000 and A7 II or any A7 Model mirroless cameras are great cameras! I almost made the full switch from canon but decided to get the 7D mark II due to my Surf shooting in a Aquatech Water Housing. Currently most reputable surf housing companies aren't making any dedicated housing for mirrorless cameras yet. The market isn't there yet. So I went w/ the 7D Mark II.

I'm sure this has been asked a million times but I'd like to get into photography as a hobby. I'm going to be traveling quite a bit for the next year or two and would love to take some great shots. Any recommendations for a camera ? Any of the info on the first page outdated ?
