You enjoyed GZ, that's great. However, I would make the assumption that most people don't put that kind of time into a single player campaign. That's the thing, I got over 20 hours of game play so far. I can beat the main mission in 10 minutes at this point. You can't go required time because the Metal Gear games are usually 5-7 hours long. They're meant to be replayed.
You're fears will be put to ease though, Kojima confirmed TPP is 200 times bigger than GZ.
I was talking about the campaign. What you're talking about is doing side missions and what not. A person who's mainly interested in the campaign will get less value out of the game, than a person who is a completionist. If skyrim was priced at $400(30hr of gameplay/$60), do you think that would fly? One could argue that you're getting 200 hrs of gameplay and that you're supposed to complete every quest, so that price is justifiable.
I think that that's your GZ argument to the next level.
I think all games are meant to be replayed. Some games don't give a .... what you do ala sandbox games.
I've put in 20 hr into Forza Horizon, yet I'm only 7% or 14% done with the campaign.
Here's an 3 year old article about how fewer gamers are completing their games.
