E3 2014: FINAL FANTASY 14 GETTING TWO NEW CLASSES, GAY MARRIAGE
Meet the Rogue and the Ninja.
BY LUKE KARMALI
Square Enix has announced some of the new content headed to Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, including two new classes and same-sex marriage.
In the first part of a livestream held during E3, producer Naoki Yoshida announced that Patch 2.4 will introduce the Rogue class to the game, which will in turn unlock the Ninja job.
Rogues will be a stealth class making use of dual weapons, along with a heady mix of poisons and enhanced movement skills. Ninjas take this then add magical abilities centred around ninjitsu abilities and hand gestures.
Additionally, Patch 2.4 will add the ability for two characters to marry regardless of race, nation or gender. Such a feature was already present in other MMOs like The Elder Scrolls Online, so it's a nice touch that's as relevant from a gameplay standpoint as it is in terms of social commentary.
We'll be going hands-on with the new patch in the next couple of days, so be sure to keep your eyes on IGN for all the latest news as it breaks.
Excited to see what those classes do.
