The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

That brings up an interesting question... best side scroller of all time? I'm going with SOTN.. :smokin

And shovel knight does look pretty slick..

I hated MW2. Something was constantly in the sky killing you and no one ever wanted to shoot it down. Also you got nuked 1 out of every 3 games, it was ridiculous. At least with MW3 you had to shoot someone yourself to get a MOAB. No making it to the predator missile and then finding a nice spot to rest while your harrier and pave low do all your work for you.

I can agree with both. MW2 had the OP killstreaks but they were fun to use, especially if you had the right set up but at the same time, you had people cheating i.e. going off in a corner letter their friend kill them until they got a nuke :{ CoD4 was just so simple but it was damn near perfect, probably my favorite maps too. MW3 was the one I played the most, probably 21 days of playing time. I was fresh back from my first deployment and was itching to play the Duty. It's funny tho, I'd take anything before ghosts in a remaster right about now

Well then, that was quick. That game is perfection and is top 3 for me. Debate over!

Super Castlevania IV would be a close runner up for me.

Never was big on Castlevania after SNES but as far as side-scroll is concerned the series is definitely in the GOAT convo.

I need to find a copy of SC4..

A few of those DS casltevania games are really good and play similar to SOTN..
I can't remember the names off top.. harmony of dissonance?

Not sure how many people can relate to me here since technically it was PC only originally, but I miss this

And prior to that, Medal of Honor.  Granted it didn't come out on PSN until it was released as a download with MW2, but I miss me some straight up simple pick your gun and that's what you got until you died gameplay.  Granted most of the people who got it with MW2 probably didn't play it much, but this was all I played as a kid and it brings back some fond memories.  I understand that something like this wouldn't be feasible nowadays because it's just too simple/basic, but this is the only time where I found myself legit addicted to FPS.

Is this what Call of Duty Classic is on PSN? I bought it a few years ago and it was pretty good but you're right, it wouldn't be feasible today.

Yeah that's exactly what it was.  I played so much on PC when I was younger.  Way too simple for a game nowadays though, but honestly I can't stand the recent Call of Duty games.  Played some of the Modern Warfare games but got so tired of them releasing essentially the same game for a few years in a row back then.  Granted it's a little different now but my interest was never renewed in the series even after they started to switch things up.

MW2 was OP but I had fun man, I usually had a team of 5 or 6 so we was racing against ourselves to get a nuke. lol if we saw someone going off we went and hunted him down. We had like 1 or 2 guys with stingers on deck we was haters lol. But yeah COD4 overall is best competitive wise, most balanced. Best Search maps too. MW2 just made kill streaks funs as heck. Getting out your chopper gunner on 23 kills was stress. U know how many times I died on 24. I miss that in shooters.

COD4, we had about 18 guys on NT playing daily, all running in random groups of 6.

Skies were always full of choppers. You basically had to play with one finger on right on the D-pad to try and get yours called in.
