The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

Man if R* announces that RDR2 will take advantage of PS4 Pro. This would be the game that makes me finally upgrade to PS4 Pro and buy a 4K HDR TV.
Speaking of 4k TV, I finally watched a 4k video on Youtube through my Samsung.

Yeah, I could tell the difference now lol

If RDR2 is also coming to pc, I don't see why RS wouldn't take advantage of the ps4 pro features.

On the xb1 version of gta5, RS supported the impulse triggers. On ps4, the controller "talks" to you.

Not the exact comparison, but they tried to make use of all the consoles' assets.

R* will definitely take advantage of PS4 Pro and Scorpio, I'd think that's almost guaranteed. Sony and MS probably sitting back bidding for that exclusivity right now. Pro bundle with RDR2 or Scorpio launch bundle.

microsoft already made red dead redemption backwards compatiable on xb1.

Not to mention the story dlc time exclusive years ago.

Yeah. Don't know how I feel about the news. I guess it's time to saddle up? [emoji]128014[/emoji] [emoji]128014[/emoji] [emoji]128014[/emoji]

If there is a crazy good deal for a XB1 S on Black Friday.

I might just have to cop one. Just so I can replay RDR and play Forza Horizon 3.

Right now the only console I plan on getting next month is NES Classic.

To me right now. PS4 Pro and PSVR just aren't worth upgrading and spending $399 or $499 on PSVR.

Especially when I don't have a 4K HDR TV right now.

Why get a 4KTV when you can use the sleek, beautiful Vita screen to remote play anywhere!

I don't know numbers or resolutions, but Vita has to be 4.5 or 5K's.

Dude making the most of his life.

Not going to liethough. I'm still very salty from Malaysia

Are we going to get an update on Final Fantasy 7 remake anytime soon? I'm sure this will be delayed as well lol.

I wouldn't expect anything until FFXV and WOFF have both released so maybe PSX but I wouldn't hold my breath for it.

Every game post Octoober is required to take advantage of the PS4 pro's power.

Another 5 years for the PC port... if at all ;(

:lol

It's stuff like this why I can't do PC only.

^I thought only PS4 exclusives would be required 4K specs during development.

All this talk about RDR2 but we still have Spider-Man coming before that right? If you don't have the PS4 Pro and 4K TV by the time that game comes out I'm pretty sure you'll want to grab it then.

Nah every game from October but Sony is patching a lot of their older exclusives.

With the pro they will all be 4K or checkerboard to 4K if you have a 4K TV or you get graphical and performance improvements on a HD TV.

PS4 Pro game compatibility - what games will be improved on the new system?

All existing PS4 games will work on PS4 Pro, and according to leaked documents, from October 2016 all new games released on PS4 must offer a Pro mode to offer visual and performance improvements, whether it's a resolution increase or new graphical features. This surely means many of this year's biggest releases will have Pro modes, but until then, confirmed upcoming PS4 Pro mode games include:

  • Horizon: Zero Dawn
  • Days Gone
  • FIFA 17
  • Battlefield 1
  • Titanfall 2
  • Mass Effect Andromeda
  • Spiderman
  • Watch Dogs 2
  • Rise of the Tomb Raider (offers 4K30, 1080p30 max settings and 1080p unlocked FPS modes)
  • For Honor
  • Dishonored 2
  • Final Fantasy XV
  • Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered
  • Killing Floor 2

This article was in September so the list is old.
VR games will get a boost too.

Heres a couple of PS4 pro patch notes.

Elder Scrolls Online

PlayStation[emoji]174[/emoji]4 Pro Support
This update adds support for the upcoming PlayStation[emoji]174[/emoji]4 Pro! There are two graphics modes available exclusively to PS4 Pro players: 4k mode and 1080p enhanced mode.

4k Mode

- This includes all of the graphical features available on the original PlayStation[emoji]174[/emoji]4, and the game is scaled to 4k resolution.
- This is the default when the PS4 Pro is hooked up to a display that supports 4k resolution.

1080p Enhanced Mode

- This includes all of the graphical features available on the original PlayStation[emoji]174[/emoji]4, and also includes the following graphical enhancements:
- Ambient occlusion
- Water reflections
- Improved shadow fidelity

The Witness

When using PS4 Pro with a 4k display, we will render at 1440p or possibly higher, all while keeping a consistent 60 frames per second. This image will then be upscaled to 4k, and we will draw text, menus, and other UI at native 4k resolution. (This is similar to what happens on the base PS4, where we render the 3D scene at 900p, then upscale to 1080p and draw UI at 1080p). We might be able to achieve resolutions higher than 1440p based on various engineering tradeoffs (for example, if we boost the resolution of the main scene to a greater degree than we boost the resolution of the reflections in water, which tend to be distorted anyway. Also, we’ll evaluate checkerboard rendering — we’re not sure if it’s the right way to go for this game, but we’ll see.) We’ll post again when we finalize these specs.

* When using PS4 Pro with a display that is 1080p or lower, we will render the scene at 1080p (instead of the old 900p), and increase antialiasing quality from 2x to 4x MSAA, again while keeping a solid 60 frames per second. We are exploring additional visual quality increases, like increased streaming distance for high-resolution meshes, or decreasing the noticeability of the fade-in between faraway LODs and high-res close-up meshes. Again, we’ll post details when this is finalized!

At least COD gave us an additional game that we have been asking for and let us play the campaign of said game a month early.
