The Old PlayStation Thread | *NEW THREAD IS UP*

looking at youtube walkthroughs, it looks about the same as the first. i'll get my fps fix with the prey/dishonered 2 bundle also on sale.

mad max is great

I'm a Mad Max fan and I found that game utterly boring. The missions were so damn repetitive - probably made it till about 25% of the game, uninstalled it and traded it in. :smh: :smh: :smh:

Any of yall play 2K? I bought it for $20 was messing around with it last night. Hadn't played in a goo 10 years.

Is it just me or is 2K20 really really **** software? Game play aside, more talking about UI/UX. Oh and the application crashing.
Downloaded it for free in hopes to playing MyPlayer, but MLB The Show has been taking up my time.

We’re 3 months away from the PS5 and lowkey don’t know anything about it except it plays games.

I think we know a lot.
Specs are out for console and controller. We know what games are coming, we know about backwards compatibility.

All that's left is Operating System and its quirks and the price.

I really wantnews about backwards compatibility and enhancements. More specifically:

Street Fighter V
Nioh 2
Death Stranding
Overwatch

oh and the price and being able to preorder would be nice if it isn’t too much to ask for.

BC will work just like it did on the PS4 Pro.

Every game that came out after the Pro came out has 2 modes, 1 for PS4 and one for the pro.

Older games had to get patched to take full advantage of the pro. There was also boost mode on the pro which helped stabilise games by increasing the clock speeds to increase or stabilise framerates which worked for some games but not others. Since games are coded differently boost mode can break some games while helping others so a patch is the best way to make use of the extra power.

PS5 will have 3 modes. PS5 native mode, PS4 pro mode and PS4 mode.

In native mode, the full power of the GPU is unlocked, this should allow PS4 games to reach higher frame rates

If the full power of the native mode breaks the game code then it will default to PS4 Pro mode if the game has a PS4 pro mode.

If the game is super old like Driveclub for example which didn't get a pro patch and if boost mode breaks the game then it would default to standard PS4 mode and run like it did on your PS4.
The game can't be patched since the studio doesn't exist anymore so the PS4 mode is ideal for a scenario like this.

So basically all the games will work but Sony is checking the popular ones first to see if they would work in native mode so that they can get a performance jump. Otherwise they will play like they did on the PS4.

Street Fighter V - Didn't even get a pro patch so expect nothing. Maybe better online performance because of the SSD.
Nioh 2 - This has a mode with unlocked frame rate so it should see gains with boost mode.
Death Stranding - PC version is out already so should be good to go.
Overwatch - Popular E-Sports game so should get a patch. Have to wait on Blizzard to see if they won't charge you for it though.

No PS5 price/pre-order announcement today but they could probably announce another show coming, right?

That's what I was hoping for. End the show with a date for the next blowout. If not, all these "insiders" will start claiming they know the date.

Can’t wait to play through Doom: Eternal again on PS5. Great experience. It was like my childhood all over again...

Payless looks cool but you gotta amp it up with some good music to get me hyped and excited.
