Every ps3 model can play ps1. It just that they got rid of the ps2 compatibility in the later models.

I think they specifically got rid of the PS2 CPU/GPU within the PS3 after the launch versions. If you're looking for a one stop solution for PS1-PS3 then the launch 'fat' models 20GB/60GB are the ones to get.

NBA Showtime was solid man. With the NBA on NBC music. Now that I think about it, other than the 2K Series, I probably played this more than any other Dreamcast game.
