Has anyone in here played 13 Sentinels?
Played it a couple months ago. Visual novel style w/ anime tropes. Deep sci-fi story: Aliens, clones, mechs, time travel, end of the world, whole nine yards.

Have story mode where you're only advancing the different characters in their stories.

Have the action mode where you're going through tactics based battles with your mechs vs alien onslaughts.

Have to proceed a certain amount in story mode and action mode to continue with both.

If you're not cool with dots fighting other dots, you might not like the action though:

Scratched my tactics itch, I liked the game. I can see how people wouldn't like the visual novel style or the non-modern action style though.

Absolutely CHURNING these games out. EDIT: I didnt know Daybreak 1 and 2 had already released in Japan. Makes more sense.

Part III comes in September for JP. Then NA is only 1 release behind.

I want to play these games but damn, there’s a lot of ‘em

I finished up Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition this past weekend. This was my first full play through since 2009 on X360. It’s still my favorite Tales of game. I hope Bandai gets around to bringing some of the PS3 gen Tales games to modern consoles. I’d really like to play Graces F without having to hook up my PS3.

I’m back on Yakuza: Like A Dragon 🐉

Got the Plat in Sea of Stars.

Deserving of all the praise it got. I really enjoyed it, story was great, they used the new game + feature creatively, trophies were fun. While not as deep as a game like Chrono Trigger, you can see the inspiration in many of its system.

I hope Sabotage stays in the genre.

Next I am going to try and finish Octopath 2. I didn't realize I was 35 hours in when I lost focus and let it sit. Rebirth can wait another few weeks.

Tales of Arise took the crown for best Tales game to me. The presentation is outstanding. Combat feels good asf too.
Combat was definitely an improvement for sure. I have Arise as my #3 Tales game.

I'm considering picking up Star Ocean the Second Story R on steam right now since it's on sale. Is it good?

I intend to grab it later this year when I return to the US. I’d say check out the demoif it’s still available on PS and possibly Steam.

An embarrassing thing to note about me,

I have five Star Ocean games purchased on PSN and have played a combined 1 hour of them. Three of them I bought on release day. :nthat:

Star Ocean Divine Force
Star Ocean First Depareture R
Star Ocean Integrity and Faithlessness
Star Ocean Till the End of Time
Star Ocean Last Hope Remaster
X Christmas Gifts on X: Tiger King I'm ...

So let me know how Star Ocean the Second Story R is, I feel like I've come this far already, mine as whale keep adding to it.

I added like 10 games to the backlog as a result of this Steam sale. In terms or RPGs, I copped both South Park games and have absolutely no clue when I will play. Not sure if we consider them RPGs but most of the rest were rouges and metroidvanias. I am hype to play them on the Legion Go though.

Ricky D Ricky D and I have been going in on Yakuza 7 and man this game is GOLD :lol :lol

Stick of Truth and Fractured But Whole are absolutely RPG's. Excellent ones.

The new game looks pretty bad though. I see it just released an is already on sale.

beat darksouls 3 and the DLC.

people were hyping up gael slave knight and I beat him first try.

coming from sekiro, DS3 was pretty easy.

hardest boss was sister friede but even that wasnt too bad

I know you have an insane backlog but have you considered Unicorn Overlord?

Yes! I actually have the 5-hour trial downloaded. Just waiting to play.

I saw it on sale this week for $55.99 CAD, which is still a bit steep especially if I wont get to it for a few months. Will probably wait til fall and find a deeper sale.

Finished Yakuza: Like a Dragon yesterday. My Thoughts:

It is an incredible nod to the 90s and early 2000s JRPG. I am not familiar with the series, but it seems to mix Yakuza's originality and goofiness in very well. At first the game seems unfair and outright random from a difficulty perspective, but as you progress you realize that the game is forcing you to actually understand how to play it. There is no rushing the experience at all. As someone who can have a difficult time being present with games because I am trying to get to the next one, I appreciate this.

9.5/10. My only gripe is that it needs more save points. Just like back in the day, when progressing the story you can get stuck in long intervals where saving is not possible. I believe I heard that is fixed in Infinite Wealth so we will see. Looking forward to the sequel and diving into the series as a whole.
