Has anyone here tried giving up technology (or at least the internet) for a day (or more)? I'm contemplating doing a week off. Maybe allow myself to check email once every morning but otherwise go offline.

yesterday was my 1 year anniversary with my girl
she bought me a watch

and made a damn love book online, with love quotes, and a lot of things she wrote about us, the things we have in common, what she loves about me, our past dates ect
and she then also went out of the way to give me a scrapbook album with our text messages we wold send to each other since day 1
she really went all out...i was speechless when she gave it all to me...damn i love that women

Sometimes my brother "forgets" to pay the internet bill and they turn off our service for a day...
loooooongest day of my life.
I got a couple buddies who are roommates and they don't have cable service or internet.
I don't know how they can survive without it

I have...but then again i was in mexico and there was ALWAYS something to do...i would log online maybe once a week or every 2 weeks
i did use an old nokia phone though, no internet or anything just for texting my friends to see what we should be doing next ect.

I know the feel. Whenever my internet or NT goes out, I can't do anything else. I just sit there refreshing for hours.
I think it's better when you do it deliberately. It does 2 things: 1) it forces you to think of other things to do, and 2) it frees your mind from this constant "what if something new happened" state that prohibits you from doing anything that would require you to leave the internet for more than an hour at a time.

I can't hate. I would love it if a girl did that for me, assuming we were already dating for a while. Otherwise it would be kind of weird and I would get a restraining order.
