False. In nursing school we tested the effectiveness of hand sanitizer vs washing with soap. We used a blacklight to see the dirt/girms on our hands before and after. Hand sanitizer removed almost everything while washing with soap was far less effective. Hand sanitizer is more convenient and more effective.

Washing Hands is less effective? Nawl can't be true.
Hand sanitizer is made to be a substituted option if you can't wash your hands.
Tell if I am wrong, it's the method of drying the hands that's less effective. Paper towel vs Air Hand Dryer.

Yeah isn't washing with antimicrobial soap better than hand sanitizer? Not saying hand sanitizer isn't useful, but if you have the option of hand washing vs. hand sanitizer I'd say hand washing is the better choice.
Also, I believe paper towel drying is better at not spreading germs. Though hand dryers do technically spread more germs I think it's typically found to be harmless (unless you're in the medical profession where there is likely to be more dangerous pathogens).

Online women's weblog Shine recommends using hand sanitizer directly on your armpits in situations where you don't have deodorant handy. This trick seems to neutralize sweat odor that has already occurred as well.
Rub a dollop of sanitizer into each armpit. At first, you'll smell strongly of rubbing alcohol, but that odor (and your BO) will go away in a minute or so. You should be good to go until you get home for the day.
How does this work? The source article didn't give any conclusive reasons, but since perspiration body odor is caused by bacteria perhaps the alcohol temporarily kills that bacteria while reducing the effects of the odor already in place.
The great thing about this is that hand sanitizer can be found in most public restrooms, shopping malls, and many people keep a bottle in their bag.

As far as killing bacteria, we found hand sanitizer to be the best option. We used professional grade sanitizer used in hospitals though, maybe they're a little stronger than the average product. Sanitizer isn't gonna clean visible dirt off your hands like hand washing but it will neutralize bacteria more effectively.
A good hand sanitizer will also not require you to dry your hands unless you use too much.
