It's hard to believe that Adidas messed up 19 years later by not signing LeBron James in 2003 when they already passed on signing Michael Jordan in 1984.
It's hard to fathom that they preferred to market big men instead of an athletic skill guy like Jordan, who kids could relate to and aspire to be. Their way of thinking was flawed because kids would never aspire to be 7 foot centers since humans that height aren't common in society.
Then they squandered their second chance to have a marketable star by passing on James in 2003. Sonny Vaccaro substantiated that he tried to persuade them that James was worth the $100 million and that they should give it to him. I believe Vaccaro mentioned that James was impressed with the design presentation pitched to him by Adidas, but the deal breaker was that they presented him with a cheap offer.
I still remember this commercial for LeBron's first signature shoe. And I still actually have this pair I got back in 2004.

Everybody and their moms knew that LeBron would be a superstar. I remember my boy Andre was constantly updating us on LeBron every damn week.

I've came to the conclusion a lot of people must've grew up in areas where they never saw the ocean.
My whole life the beach hasn't been more than an hr away. So it never really excited me THAT much. I'd rather go see something completely different like a safari in Africa or something. But it's way too many infectious diseases popping up right now so I'm chilling.

My daughter’s mother be doing this. Told her I’m leaving for a trip, “it doesn’t have a beach so it can’t be a vacation.”
Like I told her - she went to Guatemala for a week - and stayed on a resort the entired time on the same beach - you could of done that in Florida.
I have a doctor friend who’s the same exact way - if it’s not a beach involved - it’s not a vacation unless it’s a site seeing - like Paris, Greece, Great Wall, etc.
Unless it’s involved water sports - surfing, sailing, scuba, jet skiing; you’ll never catch me at a beach.

And they don't even get in the water, it's TOO hot for them outside most of the time.
They put a bathing suit on, go down to the beach, take some pics for the gram and get their feet wet. Done in an hr tops.

I alternate my vacations, never back to back beaches. But yeah I do 4 weeks a year. Beach, sight see, random new place, then someplace in the states.
This year started out with Paris so next we’re gonna do puerto Vallarta, then after that maybe someplace in Europe like Brussels or some ****. Close out the year in Leavenworth Washington for some Christmas festivities. Repeat then next year with the same format.

Yeah I have a hate relationship with beaches and sand. So that’s a personal thing for me. I don’t knock people who does it but what’s the point of seeing the world if you truly don’t experience the culture.

Man I just like going to new places, WALKING around for hours just seeing things. I don't need to do the touristy things because I know they will be flooded with folks.
I know people (hell probably this is true for most) that have "vacationed" in MIA and have never left SOuth Beach and the surrounding areas. I don't get it man. Go explore.
But again, we are the boring ones.
