I was born into a muslim family.


my girl raised catholic.


I decided a few years ago to stop fighting the feelings I had inside myself about my religion and just religion in general and be true to myself. Obviously admitting to your muslim family that you're no longer muslim is difficult, they pretty much disowned me.


Now regarding my son, we've agreed that forcing religion on a child when he has no ability to grasp such an abstract concept is unfair. It kind of skews their views of other religion and I feel like develops a bias within them.


If my son grows up to be Christian, Catholic, Muslim, Buddhist, whatever.....I'm fine with it.


If he decides religion isn't for him like me, cool.

i completely understand where you're coming from. dating-wise, yeah it's alot easier until you become one family unit. 

if i end up with a non-catholic guy, i wouldn't ever make my future husband convert to catholicism. and i won't convert for him either. but regarding my babies, i guess compromise will be the biggest factor when it comes to religion.

my cousin married a buddhist woman and his baby was baptized as catholic. but as a family they go to the temple sometimes.

if I have kids, I don't want to make them feel like they have to be or do anything but they will more than likely grow up in a Christian environment.
As much as I would want for them to "come to Jesus" on their own. I can't be like okay, you're 18 now, here's a Bible a Qu'ran and some other religious texts and some Carl Sagan go figure it out on your own, good luck
