The Timepiece Thread vol: READ THE 1st POST!!!

Awesome photos dude. Just reminds me how much I dislike the cyclops :x

Sucks, too, because up next is a Sub-C LV.

I am actually the same way, as you can see that all my other Rolexes has no dates but with the BLNR I had to make an exception and I really do not mind it much after a few wears. Now I am not running to buy another watch with a cyclops but it isn't as repulsive as it was before. I guess it's more of a good change or a bit refreshing to have that cyclops in a watch.

Part of the problem is I can't decide what I want.

IWC Portuguese Chrono
Another Rolex (your "Batman" GMT is killing me. Or a Daytona.)
Maybe Tudor Black Bay instead

You know the answer....

All of the above! :D

In all seriousness though, just got to try them all and see which speaks to you the most. If you were to ask for advice though, Rolex seems the safest bet as you likely won't lose much if you change your mind.

I'm telling you man, kids change everything.

You look at the timepiece and think.....that's maybe 1/20th of what it will take to put one kid through college.

Let alone the years leading up to college.

I'm glad I amassed a decent little stash before I had them because now I'm mad gun-shy. I just spend all my disposable income on my trainer now for sanity :lol

But something will be had soon.....

Ah I gotcha. It's all about priorities.

You know me though, just playing devils advocate as usual. :evil

You do boxing right? I guess just beat the frustration out on the sandbag or an opponent/sparing partner.

Or bet big on Algieri tomorrow and pray for a miracle. :lol

^i would highly recommend Steinhart, great quality, good movements and overall great value IMO

BUT the Ocean line is a blatant submariner rip off. As long as that doesn't bother you, then Godspeed

RFX, yours is a 116710BLNR?

Made up my mind that that is my next watch, would much appreciate insight on your shopping experience. Readily available at ADs? Consider grey market? Price, mark ups, retail?

Thanks

I find that availability depends on the location. I've heard other locations couldn't keep them in the case long enough while others has it sitting for months and months.

Here in Los Angeles, stainless steel Daytona is still scarce but the BLNR is everywhere. A sales associate actually tried to sell me on the BLNRs scarcity telling me it sells so quick and that if I don't take it someone will later that day. I come back a month later and it's still sitting in the case.

Discount is also dependent on how the stock is moving. I got mine for a really good price because several dealers in my area has them and it isn't moving much, price is better than what most reputable forums sellers (who are usually the ones you get a great deal from) since right now they barely go below it's retail. Hell my price is actually cheaper than what used ones are going for, I could probably sell mine before I wore it and could have made an easy $500 profit. Grey market stores like Joma still has them over retail last I checked.

But that won't be the case for most so you just got to gauge the best price you can find. Contact most of the reputable forum sellers at TheRolexForum (like DavidSW for example) and see what they can do for you.

I really am surprised that the price hasn't gone down much in the past two years, probably because the Pepsi was released in white gold, if it were in stainless steel the prices might have dropped a bit on the BLNR.

One thing for sure though, do not pay over retail, ever.

Best of luck!

Man, even without having kids its hard to let go of the cash to get one of those watches.

I've had my eyes on a two tone Date just II diamond dial for almost a year now. Next year might be the year I do it.

All good man. I need that devil on my shoulder :lol

I feel like I've eyed that IWC for so long, it will be the one.

I box for fun/fitness. Not as a profession.

And that's exactly what I was talking about when it comes to my sanity. Bang out bags+pads and the occasional sparring partner.

No opponents. My trainers keep talking to me about setting up an amateur bout. My wife is NOT having it :lol

Want to do more grappling as well as that's something I also want my kids to know so I've been looking into some BJJ schools.

Much appreciated, any more references for good sellers on rolex forum? Not very well versed with that site (yet). Will start to check local ADs, something tells me DC will be a weak market (supply wise)

Think steinhart only available thru their website (might be other outlets overseas)

When I ordered it took about 3 wks to receive (non back ordered watch)

Lots of people swear by those Seikos, any Seikos really. It's a good watch especially for the discount you get.

Orient Mako is also worth looking into, it's an automatic but it only charges by movement (you can't handwind it like usual automatic movements, I think this is important for people to know, most are surprised by this). You actually activate it by swinging the watch. Orient Mako goes on a deep discount too, Amazon should have plenty.

Steinhart Ocean?
Any authorized US retailers? Usually simple Google searches nets me a bunch but a lot are overseas.

Any good sub's on Amazon?

Tryna take advantage of this Prime free trial. :lol

Yeah you can order through Steinhart's website and several european authorized dealers, the best one I've found is http://www.gnomonwatches.com, there in Singapore I believe the owner Anders is a WIS and very connected to the community and his prices are competitive, depending on exchange rates, also his prices include customs duty fees so you will not be charged by the shipper, such as when ordering from Steinhart's website you will most like be billed by FedEx from customs duties a couple months after you receive the watch, the fee for the Ocean for me about a year and half ago was approx. $25, I own 7 Steinhart's and have been charged custom duties on 4 out of the 7

Been meaning to post pics, but I've had my Seiko 009 in for a few weeks now and I absolutely love it. I was deciding between it and the 007 and while the black face/dial is classic and more versatile, I already had a black faced watch and I'd eventually want to get a Hamilton Pilot or Field with a black face, so that would be another black face. I still might end up getting it anyway because I love this 009 so much :lol

I got it on the metal jubilee bracelet and I haven't worn it other than the first time I tried it on, probably should have just got the rubber instead but oh well. It just feels too cheap and flimsy compared to the rest of the watch. I've been using either a blue NATO or a blue/red Nato and I've been really happy with it. I'm going to eventually get a Super Oyster metal bracelet or something similar so I have that option, but I like the NATOs right now.

Not my pics but similar to the bands I have and the metal I want.

Overall, I'm really pleased with it... especially for the price.

That dude is funny, real shame how much fakes are out there on celebrities. It does make me wonder if they are just being scammed or they are well aware they have fakes?

Most of those rappers know they're buying fakes. The truth is, they just don't make as much money as they'd like you to believe. I think I read somewhere a while back Migos was getting like 20k a show. Break that up 3 ways, and then see how much they spend on their lifestyle, you'll see they don't have much left over to be buying authentic Day Date II's etc.

It's just a reality of the position that many of these rappers and entertainers are in, they simply don't make enough to have authentic jewels, watches and still have that flossy lifestyle.

Even the bigger names who are making bigger money, you have to remember the amount of people and family they're supporting as well.

It's pretty sad actually. Whether they know or not.

Everyone is so busy trying to keep up with the Jones', then look what happens. You get called out and look like a fool.

I'm personally not one for diamonds (that's for the Mrs.) or even for yellow/rose gold for the most part. My wedding band is white gold. My watches are stainless.

I saw that fakewatchbusta had Pusha T's new Milgauss up as genuine. And I ***** with that. Dude got a nice piece. Blue face so a nice touch of color.

Waka had up a nice, clean Breitling. Genuine.

So many of these other dudes are the embodiment of the term "doing too much". "Flooding" every watch.

I'm sure they could get a VERY nice piece that is within their means. But I guess that not enough for them.

Good perspective. Im similar, my wedding band is platinum and my next watch will be stainless. After that maybe white gold.

illphillip illphillip i agree. They go OD in the bezels and bands. Just keep it stock and timeless (no pun intended) looking.

I wonder if they also don't know themselves. Alotta overnight rappers probably haven't seen legit watches and the jewelers probably pull a bait and switch on them or just fool them. Also, they probably try to get a bargain or deal instead of going the AD or legit grey route.

$40k a show. 2-3 shows a week. $15k/day revenue from streams. I don't care if the group is 3 people or 10 - Migos are the definition of "gettin' it"
