The Timepiece Thread vol: READ THE 1st POST!!!

Watching a tudor ranger on ebay currently at 550, might try to snag it if i can get it a little lower

rfx45 rfx45 Thanks for that. I didn't know there were no holes/pins on deployment straps. I definitely want to go with the OEM route so I'll hit up my AD.

Waiting list and all, did you have to get on one or was it available on hand?

Was just sitting in the case for months and months.

Availability really depends on the location. Like in my area (Los Angeles), the BLNR isn't selling while in other cities there might be a waiting list. Here the Daytona is still sought after and isn't easily found while in other cities (especially smaller ones) might have one sitting on the case waiting for someone to love it.

I'm a huge fan of rolex watches.  I really want one one day, but only when i can comfortably afford it.  Right now I don't have that sort of disposable income.  I was considering getting a homage, but what would be the difference really compared to getting a replica rolex?  The homages try to bite rolex near 100%.  Sure the movement/brand history etc., but it's a watch at the end of the day.  It will keep and tell time and wouldn't change your life as it just sits on your wrist.   I just find them aesthetically pleasing.  So my question is, what makes wearing a homage ok compared to a replica ?  A homage is basically a fake as well.  if the replica rolex had a different brand printed on the dial then it'd be a homage anyways.

I'm not trying to condone fakes by anyways means, but I just want the watch for the look.  and by look, I don't mean the think I'm a baller look.

just trying to get some other opinions on this matter.

Decided to wait till I could budget a new Rolex, so I picked up a Tag in the meantime. I know they get some hate but I like it.

I'm thinking about getting a Tag Carerra soon. I had also been looking at Rolexes but don't know if I can justify spending the money and part of me feels like they are overpriced. Everybody brings up resale value but that doesn't really matter unless you plan to sell it.

A homage, is a watch that borrows designs cues from a watch. A copy is a re-branded copy of a more popular watch design, if you put two watches side by side and hide the logos between them, and cannot tell the difference, you have a copy.

If you want the look of the sub, get the Invicta 8926OB. If you want to fool yourself and others, go to a replica watch forum, there are plenty of people there that will help you. Copies are more accepted than fakes, some people like them, others do not.

FYI, most of those Parnis watches and PAM copies use the same parts as those replica/fake watches.

Any reason you suggest the Invicta? I'd rather get a Squale personally.

It's the cheapest sub copy out there not named Parnis or Tiger. Squale and Steinhart sre good as well but they are like 4-5x the price new.

What's your take on the quality of say a Squale or Steinhart compared to an Invicta?

From what I read, they are not in the same league but the price is also a big factor. You get a Swiss movement and sapphire crystal with Squale and Steinhart while the new 8926ob comes with the seiko nh35 movement and mineral crystal. Granted, I do not like sub copies but the the 8826ob is very good watch @ $80 for someone who is interrsted in the design, for $400-500 which is Squale and Steinhart subs, I much rather get something more original from Hamilton, Tissot, or Mido.

Thanks for your input, @JYabbz.  I've been kind of on the fence between a Khaki King and the Squale 1545-MI.  I do love the 1545-MI's lack of a date magnifier.

Thats a lot cleaner looking then all those big fake gold looking ones.

Wow MK straight stealing to the max. Looks exactly like a sky dweller. Does he do anything original? Swear I would punch him in the face if I ever saw him
in person.

It looks like a two-tone Submariner mated with a GMT-II and a Daytona.

:x

Sorry moms.

:lol

Punch who ever is on his design team

Just want to walk into HQ and throw combos like pacquiao. :lol not pinpointing just his watches, the the whole brand is a ripoff of all other brands and it pisses me off.

Side note: Think it's dope that your moms got the watch. Sometimes watches have sentimental value which is why a Casio may mean just as much as a Rolex means to someone else.

Thanks. Just thought I'd share. But I'm def looking into some of the brands here.

Maybe not a Rolex, but some of those IWC joints are lovely.

Also the Brera Orologi is tough. Need to get my paws on it

throwback1718 throwback1718 Hope I don't come off as a brand snob. This is my view as MK the brand (shirts, shoes, bags, down to the design of the stores), not necessarily the watches.

IWC has been getting my attention recently too.

Went to check out that Brera and saw that its 54 MM. :eek I don't think I've seen anything bigger than 48 MM.
