i mean i get ppl with the whole nostalgia aspect of things...but come on my brother and me was hot garbage. the writing, the acting, i mean seriously i get the whole not alot of shows thing, and it being short lived etc... but hell no is it a top anything. not even a top black show. i mean hell amen, the parkers, thats my momma, out all night, gimmie a break, webster, amos and andy, thats so raven if you wanna throw in a kid show, or even cousin skeeter. hell hangin with mr cooper, for your love, hell short lived just jordan or romeo even. If just throwing out black shows in general i dont see why the arsenio hall show isnt on the list. The list is ok and I agree that The Boondocks should be on it but if I HAD to replace it with an actual sitcom I would with My Brother & Me. The shows 13 episodes taught me more than some of these multiple season shows who "made an impact in the community".
Thanks for correcting me, series finale. You don't know what satire is? If so I can see how ppl can get a whole different message from The Boondocks.
Man I still watch The Wayan Bros. reruns hoping I'll see a season finale.I know I was being a smart *** after I saw me putting it down twice but it was a good show but was canceled without a finale like a lot of other black shows including some on the list
damb shame
Season finale or series finale? It never got a series finale
View media item 269982This list just reminded me of LL's "In the House" that was my show
I was too young to appreciate "ROC"
I remember they had some live eps and "serious" subject matter.
I assume I missed out
I get sad when I think about the death of the black sitcom
why can't shows like this exist now?
Btw, almost every ABC sitcom in the TGIF lineup had a Disneyland episode. Disney owns ABC. Its crazy how this list has inspired talk of alot of those short-lived, lesser known black sitcoms. It surprised me to see someone actually mention "Out All Night" lol. Even "My Brother & Me" (all 5 episodes) I liked "Sparks", personally.
I remember out all night with patty labelle and morris chestnutt. . I was gonna mention it, but figured no one would remember.

My man said Sparks . I remember that show, Uncle Phil was good on that too, I know that's not his name but he'll always be Uncle Phil. I liked Out All Night too, w/that young Vivica and Duane Martin
"The top 25 best Black USA sitcoms of all time"
I doubt anyone on NT has ever seen Desmond's, but it should be held in at least the same regard and esteem as The Cosby show -It helped revolutionize the way black culture was perceived in the UK

wow I actually forgot about "Sparks" but yeah that was a good show but we all know what happened there
there was also another show that premiered with it I think it was called "Good News." It was basically "Amen"
even had one of the actress' from "Amen" but only lasted 1 season
classic show. And when I saw meagan good it was love at first sight.
yeah this is really out of order
but a sad thing I noticed was that the average for shows lasting was only 5 seasons
Yeah I definitely wanted to bang the women on Living Single. It was a really good show. Young black girls don't have that cool role model with self respect today.
Get the hell out of here with that. Nostalgia distorts everything. It didn't even get a second season and was ok at best. The list is ok and I agree that The Boondocks should be on it but if I HAD to replace it with an actual sitcom I would with My Brother & Me.
