The Ultimate Soccer Thread 2011-2012. VOL 2 (EPL,LFP, SERIE A, BUND, ETC.)

Honestly as a Madrid fan im disappointed in the performance. It's not that i expected a win because Barca is still the more talented side, but we basically scored 0 goals. For an attack that's been tearing it up this season that's unacceptable. I expected to finally see Madrids attack hold their own against Barca and it didn't happen and I'm not only saying that because of the lack of scoring. The only player that stood out to me in attack was di maria and he was subbed out.

Foy got it all wrong today. Stoke should have received a red and not spurs for the deliberate hand ball on the goal line. That was one terrible game by the center official. Game over so onward and upwards #Coys

Not only does Shawcross deliberately handle the ball on the line, but off the rebound Adebayor is 2 yards onside... Doesn't make any sense what so ever.

Ref was awful today, but regardless the 1st half performance was unworthy of 3 points really.

Especially considering Barca played the entire second half with three at the back. Di Maria was good and seemed to be the most threatening. If Ronaldo didn't cost 80m he would and should have been subbed instead. And Mesut "60 minutes" Ozil was completely anonymous.

If I were a Madrid fan I wouldn't be too crushed over this. If Ronaldo takes his chances Madrid wins or ties this game.

dnr...thanks for that

A team that has been getting worked by an opponent for a significant period of time sometimes needs competitive losses before it can turn the tables. We're all aware that Madrid dropped lots of cash, but why lose sight of how good this Barca team has been? If you're going to talk about them as one of the greatest teams ever, which is valid, you should understand why a rival would be somewhat pleased to lose a competitive game to their dominant conqueror early in the season. Mourinho deserves props for his tactics yesterday and the fact of the matter is the game could have easily been 2-2, a good result for Madrid. Madrid showed that they ARE capable of playing soccer with Barcelona without 11 at the back. The scoreline doesn't change that.

Watching that Spurs game today was so much like watching an Arsenal game. They just dominated the second half, got jobbed on multiple calls, and just couldn't find the equalizer. As much as I don't like them, I hate to see it happen that way.

On el Clasico, I think Madrid can take a lot from that game. It could easily have been a 0-0 draw. Ronaldo needs to learn to lay it off, if he passes to Di Maria they would have drawn 3-3. It was like watching a game on Football Manager. I knew he wouldn't pass, but I was just yelling at him to do it.

It's a complete mystery to me why more teams don't use Stoke's throw-in tactics. Seems like every one of their throw ins creates a somewhat dangerous situation. I'm telling yall, sooner or later it will be inevitable for teams to have a throw in specialist in modern football.

Great classico....i was entertained.

dude deserves more credit.

I agree with most of the sentiment in here though.  Madrid can't be too depressed after this one they had chances.

It was a good win for Chelsea, considering we looked like we weren't able to win it the way the game developed throughout the first half hour. I think we are still thinly in the title race for now.

Although I'm glad we won, I cant help but feel bad for Fernando Torres. Dude cant catch a break

And once again Drogba played

Would you have risked Torres and his shaky form in a game like today's having a healthy Drogba? If we can hold on past next week, Torres will be fine, since he might start against some of the crappier teams in the future with the mentality that he might regain form.
