MADRID -- Real Madrid has signed a seven-year-old football prospect from Argentina, who goes by the name Leo.

Leonel Angel Coira has signed with the Spanish club and will begin training Sept. 6, Madrid spokesman Juan Tapiador tells The Associated Press.

Argentine sports daily Ole reported last week that Coira had become the youngest player signed by Madrid but Tapiador said he is not.

Coira told Ole that his idol was Barcelona and Argentina star Lionel Messi, who also goes by the name Leo. Coira says he prefers "to provide the pass" than to score.

Ole reports Madrid, the world's biggest club, made the push to sign Coira with Spanish league rival Atletico Madrid also pursuing the youngster.

Wenger must be pissed he let him slip through

It's pretty shocking and alarming to see the stuff going on in England.

They've cancelled two Carling Cup matches scheduled for Tuesday. There's a meeting scheduled to see if the friendly on Wednesday at Wembley will go on. And it's possible that this could interrupt the start of the EPL this weekend.

It's official now... cancelled.
This might affect the EPL fixtures this weekend too.

BREAKING NEWS: Fernando Torres has joined in with London riots. He's reportedly thrown 12 petrol bombs, police confirm that none have hit the target.

i chuckled

Campbell is a really good striker, still think Bendtner should stay and MC should leave.

Ryo Miyaichi got granted the special talent visa, will be nice to see how he plays in the prem.

Chamakh is better than Bendtner, I would rather him stay, he creates much more chances for others.

Joel Campbell from what I've seen is very decent and could develop into a beast.

^ He didn't get much playing time... it happened with O'Shea, Brown and, now, Obertan.

Interesting that Arsenal included Cesc and Nasri in their Champions League squad. Not cup-tied until they set foot in a game though.
EDIT ~ Rioting has spread Manchester...

a good signing for toon nation, kids got skills he just needs consistent time on the pitch and he couldnt get it at OT.

I could definitely see Obertan flourishing at St. James Park. Him and Ben Arfa when healthy could be fun to watch.

Apparently Eto'o has agreed on personal terms with Anzhi in Russia, still trying to figure out a transfer fee w/ Inter. Wages in excess of 20 million euros, a year, that is not a typo.

EPL will make a decision on the weekend fixtures on Thursday.

They said earlier that potentially only the London fixtures might be affected, but listening to NPR now, it sounds like London is quiet tonight with the huge increase in police. But now Manchester, Wolverhampton, Birmingham, and seemingly every other city has issues.

£350 a week. Crazy.Seems like Nasri is headed to City, let's hope they use that money for Mata.

350k a week? That's on par with Ronaldo and Messi, no? Can't blame him, but I damn sure will miss watching him regularly.
