The Ultimate Soccer Thread 2012-2013 Vol. 3 Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga etc

Yp IMASOLEMAN18, that graphic is wrong :lol. Tevez has lots of volunteer work to do in the tune of 250 hours.

I like watching Liga MX, a lot more than MLS. One thing about the MLS game is a glaring lack of technical skill specifically in the mid field portion of the game. It's like the middies in MLS have no idea what they're supposed to do. That same weakness is in the US national team too. Also the passing in MLS is atrocious. It looks like MLS players just kick the ball where ever, my 9 year old son's club team is capable of the same level of play. Watching the Sounders play Santos Laguna the other night was painful. Without Eddie Johnson, that team was rudderless. I miss the Galaxy vs. Monterrey.

Edit - My MLS midfield observation is based on numerous games I've seen last year & so far this year.

This is my biggest issue honestly.

Its hard to watch Andres Iniesta be absolutely brilliant on the ball. Or watch the speed and skill of Ozil....and then turn on the mls....I am trying to watch more MLS this year....but i end up putting on basketball after 20 mins....

I don't expect MLS middies to play to the level of Iniesta, Ozil or attacking middies like Kroos, Mata, etc. Those are world class talents & players like Iniesta & Xavi H are kinda once in a lifetime like players (IMO), but damn it's like MLS middies (in particular) are stepping onto the pitch for the first time in their lives or something. I honestly see the same mistakes & level of play from my son's club team (in the midfield) & he plays U9. MLS midfielders all defensive minded & that's pretty much it. At least the US can produce solid goalies though.

BTW, it was good to see the Galaxy lose yesterday. I hate arenas, massively overrated coach whose benefited from AEG's deep pockets. Now that Tim Leiweke has left AEG, brucey won't have the type of $ to spend...

I know he is rck2sactown's man 100 grand, but I'm thankful fox didn't have gus doing champions league games. It was actually refreshing to not hear him doing it. If he's to succeed announcing soccer here in the states, he's gotta adhere to a less is more philosophy. I was actually surprised fox didn't have him doing the games so that he would get as much experience doing crucial games leading up to the World Cup. I wonder why he didn't do them?

Ronaldinho could of been one of the best ever im sure of it,

If only he could keep himself out of Catwalk Club in Barcelona every damn night, Dude might aswell of had his own booth in that place the amount of time he was in that Club :{

:lol Well he wasn't there on Mondays. If only because that's the one day it's not open.

But at the end of the day, it doesn't really matter. He won everything there is to win, and had a lot of fun doing it.

Besides, when you reach the heights of greatness he reached, you live forever.

Any of yall listen to Men In Blazers (Grantland soccer podcast)?

They had a 30 minute interview with Jurgen Klinsmann.... Whenever I doubt the USMNT then hear him talk, I feel alot better about our (American) outlook.

I'm still not ready to judge his performance, but he reminds me a lot of Kevin Mchale or Matt Millen, in that Jurgen can definitely talk that talk like those guys can...... but hopefully he performs better than those dudes :lol

anyways, it was a really good interview. Love hearing Jurgen talk about the game and American development :hat

Certainly a great of his era. His contemporaries were/are Lampard, Gerard, Eto'o, Sheva, Henry, etc., and he was greater than all of them during his peak.

As for all time, it depends on how many players you consider to be all time greats, and how you factor in longevity. At his peak, he was probably one of the 20 or so greatest footballers to ever live. It's just that peak was relatively short-lived.

I'll take that rationale. I've always struggled with whether or not he was a great of his era or one of the all time greats. For me he kinda straddles the line. I think when I do consider him an all time great, that I was buying into the hype & the phenomenon of the era because he was certainly an electric/entertaining player.

This dude Ballotelli really bout that all camo everything life.

Customs he's supposedly using against Fiorentina.
