I understand that Miami is a great destination for a lot of NBA players to play but other than potential cap space to sign him in a couple years what is the connection at all between Giannis and the Heat? Giannis is a big family/loyalty guy...I don’t see him peacing out to enjoy his time in South Beach.

If y’all didn’t know Masai Ujiri is Canadian now and hanging out with Trudeau in Nigeria.

I’m sure he’s still interested in that Knicks job though.

I mean while they will have cap space is it even a realistic destination or we just gonna start naming every time with cap space as suitors? And I’m not going at you personally, I’m genuinely curious if that’s what folks are gonna do since he’s the best player in the league.

Dan Lebatard is tight with Pat Riley and people in the Heat's FO and he's been saying the last couple years that that has been their plan and that they will keep that max contract spot open for him no matter what.
He's also said Riley has no interest in trading Herro or Bam.

That explains nothing other than Riley trying to preserve cap space for him, which we already know. My thing is why would that be the place where Giannis is leaving his team for? He tryna team up with 33-36 year old Jimmy Butler?

There have been no official reports citing interest on Giannis’ part or linking him to Miami but think about this. He is an UFA next summer at age 26. Stringer will be 31 going on 32 in the summer. Bam will be 24. Nunn and Duncan Robinson will be 26/27. Herro 21. Derrick Jones will be 23. However else they fill out the roster.

That’s a GREAT team and arguably better than what he has now. IMHO - it’ll depend on what how Milwaukee fares in the postseason the next two years. We’ll see but if the money is there, it’s not nearly as bad of a look as you’re trying to make it out to be.
