So it was my sarcastic reply to your clear attempt to belittle me over my initial post that wasn't even a serious conversation starter?
Okay well let me apologize without the sarcasm.
No need for how hostile you got........I'm fine, just saying don't ruin your day over the likes of me. As said, not even that serious.

You got clowned on for saying something dumb. If you can't handle that then this place isn't for you :lol Have a great rest of your day sunshine.

Pete was a chucker and his dad was his coach. There's a reason Bob Petit is LSU best player
He was definitely a chucker. Was a solid shooter though.

I certainly wouldn't name him the best college player, top 5, or maybe even top 10.

That's just a **** ton of points though and deserves recognition.

Again. I think I have two posts acknowledging you clowing me.
YOu got me.
I'm not trying to claim your win. It's obvious you are upset, though. Because even my waving the white flag isn't enough of a white flag for you.

That is a problem with you. Not me. When someone gives you the Win, take it. TAKE THE WIN

To put this into perspective, JJ Redick averaged 20PPG in four years in a stacked ACC on 14 FGA shooting 43% (8 3PA - 41%).
Pistol Pete averaged 44PPG in three years at LSU in the 1960s on 38 FGA shooting 44%.

Do with that information what you will.

Please just leave it and let the thread go on about basketball. I really don't care and don't want to waste mine or anyone else's time with this. Contrary to your belief, I'm not mad about your post about Rudy Gobert.

That doesn't really put anything into perspective given the lack of a 3pt line and worse spacing during Pete's era. We all know JJ was a great shooter.

Per Wiki so take with grains of salt-
"Second, Maravich played before the advent of the three-point line. This significant difference has raised speculation regarding just how much higher his records would be, given his long-range shooting ability and how such a component might have altered his play. Writing for ESPN.com, Bob Carter stated, "Though Maravich played before [...] the 3-point shot was established, he loved gunning from long range."[14] It has been reported that former LSU coach Dale Brown charted every shot Maravich scored and concluded that, if his shots from three-point range had been counted as three points, Maravich's average would have totaled 57 points per game."

Because the rings kinda clouded people's memories, and those who weren't around can't appreciate or fully understand that he was 1b to Jordan until the injuries slowed him. I'm sure the "Last Dance" documentary will touch on that at some point.

Phil Jackson touched on it in his 11 Rings book. Really hyped up how good he was and specifically mentions this game. Said he told him when they got him that he needed him to become a defensive specialist for them and he proudly took up the challenge.

I was going to comment about the speculative 57PPG narrative but decided to stick to facts. Bringing that point into discussion is interesting because we talk about how Pete would have averaged 13 more points per game with a three-point line when we don't discuss the possibility of JJ averaging 27 more PPG (assuming his 3s were 2s so 17PPG) with 24 more shot attempts per game if he played in Pete's era.

Obviously lots of what-ifs and unknowns. Do we know if JJ is capable of shouldering that kind of offensive burden without wearing down, likely leading to a lower shooting %? He'd be an even bigger focus of the defense than he was during his time at Duke too.

Tyler Hansbourgh would be a lot closer to pete if he shot 38 times a game , kid played on balanced teams after his freshman year

Best college player ever

The Jordan propaganda machine is at it again.

I’m an MJ guy. There’s no basketball player I’ve enjoyed watching more and doubt there ever will be. But calling him the best college basketball player ever is legitimately stupid.

Michael Jordan was just Rashad McCants in the early 80s.

I remember going to a Warriors/T'Wolves game when McCant was on the Wolves and my friend was trying to get **** signed at the tunnel entrance (Mad Dog Madsen signed our tickets ), there was a random dude that passionately hated Rashad McCants and yelled at him before and after the game "You ******* suck McCants **** you you were only good at UNC!"and it was such a random person to project hate on, to me :lol
