The How many pts would Jordan avg in today's game is dumb as hell lmaoo but **** it.

I've settled on this: If James Harden, who literally plays in a system that supercharges stats, who literally takes 13(!) 3's and 12 FTA's per, and didn't come close to 40,

If Kobe in 06 who played 42 minutes a night, took 7 3's and 10 FTA's a night and didn't come close to 40,

then hypothetically speaking, Jordan averaging 40 or more is insane
Simmons and Rusillo broke this down pretty well on Sunday night's pod. Think they landed on him being in the 37ish range. Based it off of Harden's performance last year where you'd have to put up 25ish shots per game while also getting to the line in double digits.

To average 45 a game, for every "bad game" where you "only" dropped 30, you'd have to make up for it with 60. It just isn't realistic.

The number isn't 40...but 45?!?!?!

  ahhh man the Jordan Last Dance **** is out of control LOLOLOL

Why stop at 45? ****, he could average a 48 point triple double while walking on water lol

Other than maybe D'antoni, there isn't even a system today that would allow a player to play enough to average 40, let alone allow a player to take the FGAs to do so.
MJ scoring in dantoni system would be OD

Could the NBA also go the other way and just cancel this season and then start the next season a little earlier? Give longer breaks in between games, eliminate back to backs, etc. Would theoretically solve the load management issue.

Sorry, I'm not following. I dont get the point of doing this.

Not much is going to change between now and the end of this year. You're still going to have the pod idea or whatever other precautions until there's a vaccine.

I think they pretty much know things won't be back to normal until next yr, so they want to just salvage what they can now for this season and have as many "normal" games next season as possible.

MJ's highest scoring seasons '87 & '88 were on 1 3pt attempt per game while playing on the slowest paced team in the league. Given even a moderate uptick in possession and pace and given that teams almost completely neglect defending the midrange since everybody wants to jack up 3s its not unreasonable at all.

Oh it's incredibly unreasonable. You're saying that Jordan would average 40 to 45ppg in 36 to 37 minutes.

That's insane.

It's a hypothetical, but it's insane. He's not gonna have open midrange jumpers lol

He's not gonna make enough middy's to justify the lack of 3pt shooting. Even if he's a league average 3pt shooter it wouldn't come close. WTF bro lol

Nice to see certain people still on their bs. Meanwhile in the real world

All anyone has to do is watch Kawhi. It isn't that difficult

seriously. He shoots like 6 heavily contested ones a game at high clip. Even the high volume 3 point guys like Dame are getting off tough mid range jumpers a game.

Backwards.

Left hand only.

Nursing injuries (PLURAL).

In Jordan's 86-87 year, where he averaged his career high of 37 a game, he averaged 28 FGA per game. That amount of FGA just isn't happening today. Also worth noting that he did that on a team that was below .500. Harden is the only player that has gotten even close to that many attempts in the last 3 seasons, and he was "only" at 25 attempts per game in a system that is basically made for him to shoot as much as possible

This discussion made me think of when trynafeelmink trynafeelmink said Lonzo Ball could be a 15/7/11 guy & the only players to ever put up those numbers over a full season are Oscar Robertson, Magic Johnson, & James Harden.

Of the elite scorers who outside of KD and Kawhi take and MAKE them consistently.

CJ McCollum
Myrie
Devin Booker
CP3
Beal

all shot over 40% from 10-19 feet. Really the low one was Beal but Middleton was high above 15 feet.

the mid range ain’t dead will never be dead.

Why can't ****** be happy with Jordan being a 28-32/6/5 guy on 49/32/80 while still being elite on defense. That would be the best player in the L.

We can't even be reasonable.

We gotta go to ******* 45 ppg LOL you're doing Jordan a disservice by turning him into Paul bunyon * ( nick. nick. ) instead of the best basketball player ever.

Louis Williams takes and makes a fair number of mid-range jumpers as well.

Kawhi and KD are the modern day mid range kings and both have hovered around 20-23% of their shots coming from 10-16 ft and 18 and 14% of their shots from 16ft to the 3pt line.

MJ in 97 had 30% and 28% of his shots from those perspective distances and that's when he wasn't physically able to get everywhere and do anything in his prime. He was also shooting 50% from the field on those shots which is ridiculous.

He was just built DIFFERENTLY than these cats.
